Ultralyd
Ultralyd (established 2004 in Stavanger, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz/free rock band initiated by the legendary saxophonist Frode Gjerstad in 2004. Gjerstad left the band after their second album ”Chromosome Gun” (2005) to be replaced by Kjetil Møster (known from The Core). During two extensive Europe tours and several studio sessions the direction of Ultralyd gradually changed from a rather chaotic free rock approach towards composition and more structured forms of improvisation, experimenting with different layers and altered roles of the instruments, integrating elements from contemporary and electronic music, funk and doom metal and ending up with an album that might be classified as something akin to the improvised chamber rock King Crimson were doing around 1973. Anders Hana
Anders Hana (born 7 August 1982 in Stavanger, Norway) is a Norwegian musician (guitar), composer and marine biologist, known as a veteran of the bands ''Noxagt'', ''Ultralyd'' and ''Moha!'', and a series of wildlife projects in northern Norway. Career Hana established ''Jazzuken'' in Stavanger, Norway in 2003, and operated the jazz club Sting there for three years. He moved to Oslo, where he cooperated with Mats Gustafsson at ''All Ears'' (2005). He has released several albums with the drummer Morten J. Olsen as ''MoHa!'', and contributes to the quartet ''Ultralyd'' together with Kjetil Møster (saxophones), Kjetil D. Brandsdal (bass) and Olsen (drums). He played guitar with the rock band Noxagt. He and Møster are the duo ''Hakj''; with Olsen and Andrew D'Angelo they are the trio ''Morthana''; and as a duo with Paal Nilssen-Love they released the album ''AM/FM'' (2006) on Utech Records. Kjetil Møster
Kjetil Traavik Møster (born 17 June 1976) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophones, clarinet and bass clarinet) and composer, known from bands like The Core, Ultralyd, Brat, Zanussi 5, and performance with Chick Corea at Moldejazz 2000, later released on CD. He has also made his mark with experimental performances at the interface between electronic based fri-rock and jazz. Career Møster was born in Bergen and has played the accordion since he was six years old; he learned the cornet, bass and saxophone in subsequent years, and played the guitar in the rock band "Riper i lakken" since 13. From 1995 to 1996, Møster studied at ''Sund folkehøgskole'' where he wrote a song called "Eg veit ka du gjorde med Åshild" (''"I know what you did with Åshild"'') for the album made by the current class of ''Sund''. Load Records was an American experimental music-oriented independent record label based out of Providence, Rhode Island. "Load Records might possibly be in possession of the world's most challenging record roster," writes Mark Hensch of Thrash Pit. Stavanger (, , US usually , ) is a city and municipality in Norway.
