Ukraine In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Ukraine was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Show Me Your Love", written by Mikhail Nekrasov, Tina Karol, and DJ Pasha, Pavlo Shylko, and performed by Karol herself. The Ukrainian participating broadcaster, the National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU), organised the music competition series in order to select its entry for the contest. Twelve contestants competed in the competition which consisted of four shows: three elimination shows, held on 28 January, 11 February and 25 February 2006, and a final, held on 11 March 2006. Three acts qualified to compete in the final, where "I Am Your Queen" performed by Tina Karol was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a three-member jury panel and a public televote. The song was later retitled as "Show Me Your Love". Ukraine competed in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 18 May 2006. Anžej Dežan
Anžej Dežan (born 17 June 1987) is a Slovenian singer. Biography Anžej began his musical career by winning the TV show ''Karaoke'' only ten years old. His first major success though was in the 2005 talent show ''Spet Doma'' on RTV Slovenija, where he was the runner-up (beaten by Omar Naber, who got to represent Slovenia in Eurovision Song Contest 2005). Belarus In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Belarus was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Mum", composed by Sergey Sukhomlin, with lyrics by Andrey Kostyugov and performed by Polina Smolova. The Belarusian participating broadcaster, Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC), selected its entry through the national final ''Doroga na Evrovidenie''. The national final consisted of two rounds held on 10 and 27 February 2006, respectively. In the first round, fifteen competing acts participated in a televised production where public televoting selected the top three entries to qualify to the final. In the final, "Mama" performed by Polina Smolova was initially selected as the winner by a jury panel. The song was later retitled for the Eurovision Song Contest as "Mum". Oleksandr Valeriyovych Ponomariov (; born August 9, 1973) is a Ukrainian singer. He has been awarded the country's "Singer of the Year" seven times. Early life and education Ponomariov was born in Khmelnitskiy, Ukrainian SSR (now Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine). One of his early interests was boxing. When his eyesight started to deteriorate he was forbidden to fight by his doctor. While he had always enjoyed singing, he never thought that music could be his main occupation. Despite this, he applied to a music college where he encountered one drawback: he could not read music.
