Uithuizen Gas Plant
The Uithuizen Gas Plant is a main natural gas terminal in the Netherlands. History The plant has been running since 1975. The gas field was discovered in 1970. Neptune Energy now run the site. Neptune Energy have run two natural gas pipelines in the UK. Neptune Energy has also ran the pipeline to the Balgzand Gas Plant, since 2008, which has Dutch, British, Danish and German natural gas. Structure The site is close to the most-northern part of the Netherlands, in the north-east of the country. Operation Natural gas reaches the processing plant via 470km of pipelines, from 75 separate platforms. From the site, the gas is distributed around the Netherlands by Gasunie (Gas Transport Services B.V.). Condensate is transferred along an 8km pipeline to Roodeschool railway station. Over a year the plant processes 7 billion normal cubic meters of natural gas. Natural-gas Processing
Natural-gas processing is a range of industrial processes designed to purify raw natural gas by removing impurities, contaminants and higher molecular mass hydrocarbons to produce what is known as ''pipeline quality'' dry natural gas. Natural gas has to be processed in order to prepare it for final use and ensure that elimination of contaminants. Natural-gas processing starts underground or at the well-head. If the gas is being produced, for instance, alongside crude oil, the separation process already transpires as the fluid flows through the reservoir rocks until it reaches the well tubing. The process beginning at the wellhead extracts the composition of natural gas according to the type, depth, and location of the underground deposit and the geology of the area. Oil and natural gas are often found together in the same reservoir. The natural gas produced from oil wells is generally classified as ''associated-dissolved gas'' meaning that the gas had been associated with or diss ...

Neptune Energy
Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun and the farthest known planet in the Solar System. It is the fourth-largest planet in the Solar System by diameter, the third-most-massive planet, and the densest giant planet. It is 17 times the mass of Earth, and slightly more massive than its near-twin Uranus. Neptune is denser and physically smaller than Uranus because its greater mass causes more gravitational compression of its atmosphere. It is referred to as one of the solar system's two ice giant planets (the other one being Uranus). Being composed primarily of gases and liquids, it has no well-defined "solid surface". The planet orbits the Sun once every 164.8 julian year (astronomy), years at an average distance of . It is named after the Neptune (mythology), Roman god of the sea and has the astronomical symbol , representing Neptune's trident. Neptune is not visible to the unaided eye and is the only planet in the Solar System found by mathematical prediction ...

Balgzand Gas Plant
The Balgzand Gas Plant is a natural gas processing plant (''gasbehandelingsinstallatie'') in the Netherlands. History Discovery of offshore gas near the Netherlands began in 1968 in the Rotliegend sandstone near the Broad Fourteens. A large gas field was discovered to the north in 1987, and exploration of this led to the NOGAT Pipeline System which leads to the plant. The plant began running in 1992. Operation The gas is taken into the plant on three pipelines, and processed, then put into the domestic natural gas Gasunie network. NOGAT Pipeline System The NOGAT Pipeline System (Northern Offshore Gastransport) connects the gas plant to gas fields to the north. Balgzand Bacton Line The BBL Pipeline connects the gas plant to the Bacton Gas Terminal in Norfolk in the United Kingdom. A gas pipeline from here to Germany connects with the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. It began production on 1 December 2006 and is 235 km long. Structure It is situated near the junction of the N99 a ...

Gasunie
N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie (short form: Gasunie) is a Dutch natural gas infrastructure and transportation company operating in the Netherlands and Germany. Gasunie owns the Netherlands gas transmission network with a total length of over and long network in Germany. History Gasunie was founded in 1963 as a public-private partnership of Royal Dutch Shell (25%), ExxonMobil (25%) and the state of the Netherlands (50%) to sell and distribute natural gas from the then recently discovered gasfield in the province of Groningen. In 2005 the company was divided into a gas trading company (now called GasTerra) and a gas transportation company which kept the name Gasunie. The latter owns and operates most of the Dutch gas transmission network as well as the former BEB pipeline network in Germany, and a major pipeline connecting The Netherlands with the United Kingdom called the BBL Pipeline. In 2005, the split of Gasunie took place through a buy out by the Dutch State of the shares ...

Standard Conditions For Temperature And Pressure
Standard temperature and pressure (STP) are standard sets of conditions for experimental measurements to be established to allow comparisons to be made between different sets of data. The most used standards are those of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), although these are not universally accepted standards. Other organizations have established a variety of alternative definitions for their standard reference conditions. In chemistry, IUPAC changed its definition of standard temperature and pressure in 1982: * Until 1982, STP was defined as a temperature of 273.15  K (0 °C, 32 °F) and an absolute pressure of exactly 1  atm (101.325  kPa). * Since 1982, STP has been defined as a temperature of 273.15  K (0 °C, 32 °F) and an absolute pressure of exactly 105  Pa (100 kPa, 1 bar). STP should not be confused with the standard stat ...

Natural Gas
Natural gas (also called fossil gas or simply gas) is a naturally occurring mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons consisting primarily of methane in addition to various smaller amounts of other higher alkanes. Low levels of trace gases like carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen sulfide, and helium are also usually present. Natural gas is colorless and odorless, so odorizers such as mercaptan (which smells like sulfur or rotten eggs) are commonly added to natural gas supplies for safety so that leaks can be readily detected. Natural gas is a fossil fuel and non-renewable resource that is formed when layers of organic matter (primarily marine microorganisms) decompose under anaerobic conditions and are subjected to intense heat and pressure underground over millions of years. The energy that the decayed organisms originally obtained from the sun via photosynthesis is stored as chemical energy within the molecules of methane and other hydrocarbons. Natural gas can be burned for he ...
