Udoy Belmonte
Rudolf "Udoy" Belmonte (born December 23, 1969) is a Filipino former basketball player, and a commercial pilot. Playing career UST Belmonte played for UST Growling Tigers under Aric del Rosario, and notably played with del Rosario's son Lester, Patrick Fran, Rey Evangelista, Dennis Espino, and Siot Tanquingcen. When he was the team captain of the 1992 team, the team changed from ''Glowing Goldies'' to ''Golden Tigers'', and for the second time, the Golden Tigers met FEU in a game that was interrupted by a power outage. Both teams lost La Salle and Adamson respectively, and in the last game of the Tigers power went-out, and the UAAP board decided to reschedule the last three minutes of the game on a later date. Philippine Airlines (PAL) is the flag carrier of the Philippines. Metropolitan Basketball Association
The Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA), also shortened as Metroball, was a professional basketball league in the Philippines that ran for five seasons from 1998 until 2002. The MBA was established to rival the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The MBA contained between 8 and 15 teams which represented cities and provinces who played at home and away. Initially, the league was divided into two conferences: the Northern Conference for teams based in Luzon and the Southern Conference for teams based in Visayas and Mindanao. At the end of each season, the champions of each conference faced each other at the MBA National Finals to determine the league champion. Later, the MBA allowed companies to sponsor teams and attach their brand to the teams' names—and by the final season, used a three-conference format. Pop Cola Panthers
The Pop Cola Panthers were a professional basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association from 1990-2001. The franchise was owned by RFM Corporation. In 2001, when RFM Corporation sold its entire stake in Cosmos Bottling Corporation to Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI), the PBA franchise was included in the transaction. Upon ownership by CCBPI, the PBA franchise renamed the Coca-Cola Tigers beginning the 2002 PBA season and was considered as an expansion team. Bethune "Siot" Tanquingcen is a Filipino professional basketball head coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the NU Bulldogs and the NLEX Road Warriors.
