Udejeen
Udejeen (Somali: Ujeejeen, Arabic: اجيجين) is a sub-clan of the Hawiye and a larger Samaale clan. It is one of the major Somali clans and has produced many prominent historical Somali figures including the first president of Somalia and various mayors in Somalia. Distribution The Udejeen primarily live in the region of Hiraan in Somalia, where they live in the districts of Jawiil, Matabaan and Beledweyne. They also extend over the border into Mustahil and Ferfer. They also live in the Middle Shabelle region of Somalia. Mohamed Nur
Mohamoud Ahmed Nur (, ) is a Somali people, Somali politician. He served as the Mayor of Mogadishu from 2010 to 27 February 2014. Background Personal life Nur was born to a family from the Udejeen sub-clan of the Hawiye. He was raised in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. Nur is married to Shamis, with whom he has six children and grandchildren from four of them. When the Somali Civil War broke out in the early 1990s, he and his family emigrated to London in 1993. The family initially stayed in London Borough of Hackney, Hackney, later relocating to the North West neighborhood, where they are still based. Hawiye
The Hawiye (; ) are one of the principal and largest of the Somali clans, tracing their lineage back to Sheikh Ahmed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Uthman, also known as Sheikh Hawiye, the eponymous figure of the clan. They are considered the earliest documented clan to have settled in the Somali peninsula, as noted in the 12th century by Al-Idrisi, occupying the regions spanning from Ras Hafun to Merca, which served as their capital.
