The Type UB III submarine was a class of U-boat built during World War I by the German Imperial Navy. Design UB III boats carried 10 torpedoes and were usually armed with either an 8.8 cm SK L/30 naval gun, or a 10.5 cm SK L/45 naval gun, deck gun. They carried a crew of 34 and had a cruising range of . Between 1916 and 1918, 96 were built. Type VII U-boats were the most common type of German World War II U-boat. 704 boats were built by the end of the war. The type had several modifications. The Type VII was the most numerous U-boat type to be involved in the Battle of the Atlantic.
