US Postal Service Cycling Team
U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team was a United States–based professional road bicycle racing cycling team, team. On June 15, 2004, the Discovery Channel signed a deal to become sponsor of the team for the 2004–2007 seasons and its name changed to Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team (). From 2005 until 2007, the team was one of the 20 teams that competed in the new UCI ProTour. As part of the sponsorship deal, Lance Armstrong, the team's undisputed leader, provided on-air appearances for the Discovery Communications#Divisions, Discovery Networks TV channels. The deal did not affect the rights of secondary sponsor OLN, later known as NBCSN in the US, to air major cycling events such as the Tour de France, although the two channels are competitors. Frankie Andreu
Francisco "Frankie" Andreu (born September 26, 1966) is an American former professional cyclist whose career highlights include riding as team captain of the U.S. Postal Service cycling team in 1998, 1999 and 2000. During his career, he won a number of race stages and finished fourth in the cycling road race at the 1996 Olympics. His testimony played a key part in the United States Anti-Doping Agency's investigation of fellow U.S. Postal cyclist Lance Armstrong's doping practices. Fumiyuki Beppu (; born 10 April 1983) is a Japanese former professional road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . His older brother is the cyclist Takumi Beppu. Career Team Discovery (2005–2007) Beppu turned professional with in 2005, and stayed with them until 2007. In June 2006, Beppu was crowned the Japanese national champion in both the time trial and the road race. On 28 September 2007, the professional cycling team announced that they had signed Beppu for an initial one-year contract. Skil-Shimano (2008–2009) On 26 July 2009, Beppu, riding for , finished 112th out of 180 riders in the Tour de France. Stapleton was previously the team manager of when it was known as . The transition to owner occurred on November 28, 2007 when German telecom company Deutsche Telekom ended its sponsorship after numerous doping allegations surfaced throughout 2007. Sean Yates (born 18 May 1960) is an English former professional cyclist and directeur sportif. Career Yates competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics, finishing sixth in the 4,000m individual pursuit. As an amateur in 1980, he won the British 25-mile individual time trial championship, and took the national record for 10-mile time trials with 19m 44s. As an amateur Yates rode for Athletic Club Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris, Europe's most successful sports club with fellow British riders Kevin Reilly from Southport, John Herety and Jeff Williams. XDS Astana Team () is a professional road bicycle racing cycling team, team sponsored by the Samruk-Kazyna, a coalition of state-owned companies from Kazakhstan and named after its capital (political), capital city Astana. Astana attained UCI ProTeam status in its inaugural year, 2007. Following a major doping scandal involving Kazakh rider Alexander Vinokourov, team management was terminated and new management brought in for the 2008 season. The Tour de France () is an annual men's multiple-stage cycle sport, bicycle race held primarily in France.
