USCGC ''Wyaconda'' is a ''Gasconade''-class river buoy tender that was commissioned 30 May 1965 at Leavenworth, Kansas. ''Wyaconda'' was the first of four ''Gasconade''-class buoy tenders built by Maxon Construction Co. of Tell City, Indiana. Buoy
A buoy (; ) is a buoyancy, floating device that can have many purposes. It can be anchored (stationary) or allowed to drift with ocean currents. History The ultimate origin of buoys is unknown, but by 1295 a seaman's manual referred to navigation buoys in the Guadalquivir River in Spain.
