UK Championship (golf)
The UK Championship, known as the ISPS Handa UK Championship for sponsorship reasons, was a professional golf tournament which was held 27–30 August 2020 at The Belfry, in Wishaw, Warwickshire, England. The tournament was intended to be a one-off event and was the final leg of a six-week "UK swing" on the European Tour during the 2020 season. Wishaw, Warwickshire
Wishaw is a village and civil parish in the north-west of Warwickshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census was 125. It is located within the district of North Warwickshire and is the home of The Belfry golf resort, which has hosted the Ryder Cup on four occasions. The village is also home to some notable buildings. The site of The Belfry was once the location of Moxhull Park, a stately home that belonged to the Ryland family (previously the Halket family) until it burnt down in the early twentieth century. The Belfry
The Belfry is a golf resort and hotel in Wishaw, Warwickshire, close to Sutton Coldfield, England, located approximately 8 miles from the centre of Birmingham. It was acquired by KSL Capital Partners in August 2012. The resort has three golf courses. The Brabazon Course is the main tournament course, and the others are the PGA National and The Derby. The headquarters of The Professional Golfers' Association are also located there, along with a 4-star hotel, tennis courts and a leisure spa. The Belfry has hosted the Ryder Cup on four occasions and has staged numerous European Tour events. In 2013, The Belfry underwent a comprehensive £26 million renovation of all bedrooms, meeting rooms, public spaces and other amenities. European Tour
The European Tour, currently titled as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, and legally the PGA European Tour or the European Tour Group, is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. The organisation also operates the European Senior Tour (for players aged 50 or older) and the developmental Challenge Tour; the second tier of men's professional golf in Europe. Stroke play is a scoring system in the sport of golf. In the regular form of stroke play, also known as medal play, the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. Rasmus Højgaard
Rasmus Højgaard (born 12 March 2001) is a Danish professional golfer who won his first European Tour event at the 2019 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, becoming the third youngest player to win on the European Tour. Amateur career Højgaard first came to prominence in July 2016 when he won the Danish International Amateur Championship, was part of the Danish team that finished third in the European Boys' Team Championship and won the McGregor Trophy in successive weeks. In 2017 Højgaard received further recognition at the boys level by representing Continental Europe in the Jacques Léglise Trophy. He was also part of the Danish team that won the 2017 European Boys Team Championship, beating the hosts Spain in the final. Justin Walters
Justin Jeremy Walters (born 23 October 1980) is a South African professional golfer. Early life Walters played college golf at Huntingdon College, winning the 2001 NAIA Championship. He then transferred to North Carolina State University where he won three times and was an All-American in 2002 and 2003. His mother is English and has played for England in team play as an amateur in the Walker Cup. Professional career In 2003, he turned professional. Walters plays on the Sunshine Tour where he has won twice, most recently at the 2011 Investec Royal Swazi Open. He began playing on the Challenge Tour in 2012. The 2020 European Tour was the 49th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972.
