UEFA Euro 1996 Qualifying
Qualifying for UEFA Euro 1996 took place throughout 1994 and 1995. Forty-seven teams were divided into eight groups, with each team playing the others in their group both home and away. The winners of each group and the six best runners-up qualified automatically, while the two worst runners-up were involved in a play-off at a neutral venue. This was the first European Championship qualifying phase in which three points were awarded for each win, as opposed to the two points that had been awarded previously. John McGinlay
John McGinlay (born 8 April 1964) is a Scottish football manager, scout and former professional player who is the club ambassador of Bolton Wanderers. As a player, he was a striker over a 26-year career that saw him notably play in the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers. He also played in the Football League for Shrewsbury Town, Bury, Millwall, Bradford City and Oldham Athletic. He also played non-league football in both Scotland and England for Fort William, Nairn County, Elgin City and Yeovil Town, as well as a spell in New Zealand with North Shore United, and in the United States with Cincinnati Riverhawks and Cincinnati Kings. He was capped 13 times by Scotland, scoring four goals. Following his retirement, McGinlay had brief spells as manager of both Gresley Rovers and Ilkeston Town. Kaftanzoglio Stadium
Kaftanzoglio National Stadium () is a sports stadium in Thessaloniki, Greece. It currently has 27,560 seats, owing to conversion of terraces to seats in 2000 and a comprehensive renovation before reopening to host football matches for the 2004 Summer Olympics, which was centered in Athens. Nikos Machlas
Nikos Machlas (, born 16 June 1973) is a retired Greek former professional footballer who played as a striker. Club career OFI Crete Machlas began his career with OFI, where he made his debut in February 1991 against Panionios. He stayed at the club for six seasons. He had the Dutchman Eugène Gerards as a coach at OFI Crete. Vitesse Machlas signed for Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem in 1996 from Greece. He scored a disappointing 8 goals in 29 games in his first season in the Eredivisie, but in his second season he scored 34 goals in just 32 games, a feat which earned him the European Golden Boot for the 1997–98 season. Daniel Batista Lima (; born 9 September 1964) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. Born in Cape Verde, he represented Greece internationally. He is the technical director of Ethnikos Piraeus. Club career Batista started his football career at the academies of Feyenoord Rotterdam. After a while playing there, a good friend of him who was also a Feyenoord supporter brought him to Greece to follow his career there. Batista played for Ethnikos Piraeus, where he impressed and soon caused the interest of the big clubs of Athens. In the summer of 1989 Olympiacos strongly claimed him, but he preferred to sign for AEK Athens. It didn't take long for him to impress at AEK as well. The Norwegian Football Federation (, ; NFF) is the governing body of football in Norway. It was formed in 1902 and organises the men's and women's national teams, as well as the league systems for men and women (whose top levels are respectively the Eliteserien and Toppserien). Terje Hauge (born 5 October 1965 in Bergen, Norway) is a former Norwegian football referee from the club Olsvik IL. Career Since he made his debut in 1990, Hauge has refereed 232 matches in the Tippeligaen. He has been an authorised FIFA referee since 1993.
