UEFA Euro 1996 Qualifying
Qualifying for UEFA Euro 1996 took place throughout 1994 and 1995. Forty-seven teams were divided into eight groups, with each team playing the others in their group both home and away. The winners of each group and the six best runners-up qualified automatically, while the two worst runners-up were involved in a play-off at a neutral venue. England qualified automatically as hosts of the event. This was the first European Championship qualifying phase in which three points were awarded for each win, as opposed to the two points that had been awarded previously. Qualified teams Seedings The draw was made on 22 January 1994 in Manchester. Denmark were seeded first as title holders, while the remaining 46 teams were divided into six pots. Yugoslavia did not enter qualifying as they were suspended due to United Nations Security Council Resolution 757. Jim McCluskey
James McCluskey (1 November 1950 in Salsburgh – 14 November 2013) was a football referee from Scotland, who officiated in the 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup and the final of UEFA Women's Euro 1991. A former footballer in the early 1970s before becoming an official, he refereed the 1990 Scottish League Cup Final, an Old Firm fixture in which Rangers defeated Celtic 2–1 at Hampden Park (leading a group of Celtic supporters to have him followed by a private investigator to uncover any bias towards their rivals), the 1993 Scottish Cup Final where Rangers beat Aberdeen 2–1 at Celtic Park, the 1993 Scottish League Cup Final at Celtic Park in which Rangers overcame Hibernian 2–1, and the 1994 Scottish League Cup Final won on penalties by Raith Rovers over Celtic at Ibrox Stadium. Kjetil Rekdal
Kjetil André Rekdal (born 6 November 1968) is a Norwegian football manager and a former player. He is the manager of Eliteserien club Rosenborg. Rekdal began his playing career in Molde FK, playing afterwards for clubs in the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Belgian Pro League. Playing as a midfielder during his time as a player, his 83 caps with the Norway national team makes him the seventh most capped player in the team's history. Ta' Qali
Ta' Qali is a wide open space in the limits of Attard and Mosta in central and northern Malta respectively, which contains the national football stadium, the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre, Ta' Qali National Park, a crafts village, and a national vegetable market which is locally known as the ''Pitkalija''. Shortly before World War II, the area was used to build a military aerodrome and a station for the Royal Air Force (RAF), which the British called RAF Ta Kali; Maltese place names were often corrupted in this fashion. RAF Ta Kali was operational throughout the war and continued to be used as an RAF airfield until the mid-1950s.
