UC Davis Aggies Baseball
The UC Davis Aggies baseball team represents the University of California, Davis in the sport of baseball. The team competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and in the Big West Conference. They are currently led by head coach Tommy Nicholson, who has held the position since 2022. The Aggies competed at the NCAA Division II level through 2005. At that level, they appeared in the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship 7 times, including two appearances in the College World Series, where they earned fifth-place finishes each time. Big West Conference
The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's NCAA Division I, Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season. Among the conference's 11 member institutions, 10 are located in California (nine in Southern California alone), and one is located in Hawaii (though the Hawaii member is leaving for the Mountain West Conference, effective July 1, 2026). Matt Vaughn
Matt Vaughn is an American baseball coach and former pitcher. He played college baseball at UC Davis for head coach Phil Swimley. He then served as head coach of the UC Davis Aggies (2012–2021). Playing career Vaughn pitched for UC Davis for four years, appearing in 37 games. He was honorable mention all-conference in his senior season, winning his final three starts as an Aggie. The Pepperdine Waves baseball team represents Pepperdine University in the sport of baseball. The Pepperdine Waves compete in Division I (NCAA), Division I of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and in the West Coast Conference. 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The 2008 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from May 30 through June 25, 2008 and was part of the 2008 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 286 teams on May 26, 2008. Thirty teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and 34 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Thirty-eight of the 64 selected teams participated in the 2007 tournament. Tyler Patrick Kelly (; born July 20, 1988) is an American-Israeli former professional baseball utility player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. He plays for Team Israel. At the University of California, Davis, Kelly led the Big West Conference with a .397 batting average as a sophomore in 2008. The NCAA Division II baseball tournament (formerly the NCAA College Division baseball tournament) is an annual college baseball tournament held at the culmination of the spring regular season and which determines the NCAA Division II college baseball champion. NCAA Division II
NCAA Division II (D-II) is the intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III.
