Tijuana Municipality
Tijuana Municipality is a municipality in the Mexican state of Baja California. Its municipal seat is located in the city of Tijuana. According to the 2020 census, the municipality had a population of 1,922,523. Luis Arturo González Cruz of the MORENA is the current municipal president. The municipality comprises the largest part of the Tijuana metropolitan area. Tijuana is bordered to the south by the municipalities of Rosarito Beach and Ensenada; to the east, by the municipality of Tecate; to the west, by the Pacific Ocean; and to the north, by the international border with the United States, specifically the County of San Diego, California. The area of the municipality of Tijuana is 879.2 km² (339.46 sq mi); the municipality includes part of the Coronado Islands, located off the coast of the municipality in the Pacific Ocean. Rosarito Beach Municipality
Playas de Rosarito Municipality ( es, Municipio de Playas de Rosarito) is located in the northwestern part of the Mexican state of Baja California comprising part of the Tijuana metropolitan area. It lies just south of the city of Tijuana. Its municipal seat is the city of Rosarito. According to the 2020 census, the municipality had a population of 126,890 inhabitants. Its area is 513.32 km² (198.19 sq mi). History At the end of the 18th century, Spanish Dominican missionaries and friars gave the name of El Rosario to an indigenous settlement in the area. The town was part of the mission of San Miguel Arcangel de la Frontera, located a few miles to the south. Ejido
An ''ejido'' (, from Latin ''exitum'') is an area of communal land used for agriculture in which community members have usufruct rights rather than ownership rights to land, which in Mexico is held by the Mexican state. People awarded ejidos in the modern era farm them individually in parcels and collectively maintain communal holdings with government oversight. Although the system of ''ejidos'' was based on an understanding of the preconquest Aztec calpulli and the medieval Spanish ejido, in the twentieth century ejidos are government-controlled. Colonia (Mexico)
In general, colonias () are neighborhoods in Mexican cities, which have no jurisdictional autonomy or representation. It is plausible that the name, which literally means 'colony', arose in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when one of the first urban developments outside Mexico City's core was inhabited by a French colony in the city. Usually ''colonias'' are assigned a specific postal code; nonetheless, in recent urban developments, gated communities are also defined as ''colonias'' and share the postal code of adjacent neighborhoods. Boroughs
A borough is an administrative division in various English-speaking countries. In principle, the term ''borough'' designates a self-governing walled town, although in practice, official use of the term varies widely.
