Jacques Telesphore Roman
Jacques Telesphore Roman (March 22, 1800 – April 11, 1848) was a 19th-century Louisiana businessman, sugar planter, and builder of the Oak Alley Plantation. Early years Born near Opelousas, Louisiana, the son of Jacques Etienne Roman of Grenoble, France, and Marie Louise Patin, Jacques Telesphore Roman and his family later moved to St. James Parish and engaged in the lucrative sugar trade. As the Roman family achieved greater prominence as leaders in society, their activities alternated between their sugar plantations in St. James Parish and elegant dwellings in New Orleans. Among the latter was the house now known as Madame John's Legacy on Rue Dumaine – which was purchased by Jacques Etienne's widow for herself and her bachelor sons shortly after her husband's death. Télesphore Fournier
Télesphore Fournier, (August 5, 1823 – May 10, 1896) was a Canadian politician, lawyer, and judge of the Supreme Court of Canada. Born in Saint-François-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud, Lower Canada (now Quebec), the son of Guillaume Fournier and Marie-Archange Morin, he was called to the bar in 1846. On July 22, 1857, he married Hermine-Eloïse Demers, and they had nine children: seven daughters and two sons. From 1855 to 1859, he was the co-owner and co-editor of the newspaper, ''Le National de Québec''. In an 1870 by-election, he was acclaimed as a Liberal Member of Parliament in the riding of Bellechasse. He was re-elected in 1872, 1873, and 1875. He held three ministerial positions: Minister of Inland Revenue (1873–1874), Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada (1874–1875), and Postmaster General (1875). He prospered and later bought the Syndicat de Lévis and several other stores in the clothing business. Telesphore Placidus Toppo (born 15 October 1939) is an Indian Cardinal (Catholic Church), cardinal and was the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ranchi from 1984 until his resignation was accepted on 24 June 2018. A Polyglot (person), polyglot, Toppo speaks Sadri language, Sadri, Kurukh language, Oraon (mother tongues), Hindi (official language), English and Italian. Télesphore-Damien Bouchard (December 20, 1881 – November 13, 1962) was a politician in Quebec, Canada. Born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, he was the mayor of the municipality from 1917 to 1930 and from 1932 to 1944 and president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities in 1918. He also founded the Union des municipalités de la province du Québec (Federation of municipalities in the province of Quebec) in 1919. He served as Liberal leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1936 to 1939, after Liberal leader Adélard Godbout lost the 1936 election and also narrowly lost his own seat. Bouchard served as opposition leader while Godbout remained leader of the Liberal Party. After the Liberals returned to power in the 1939 election, he served in Godbout's cabinet.
