Achaea
Achaea () or Achaia (), sometimes transliterated from Greek language, Greek as Akhaia (, ''Akhaḯa'', ), is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the modern regions of Greece, region of Western Greece and is situated in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The capital is Patras which is the third largest city in Greece. Geography Achaea is bordered by Elis (regional unit), Elis to the west and southwest, Arcadia (regional unit), Arcadia to the south, and Corinthia to the east and southeast. The Gulf of Corinth lies to its northeast, and the Gulf of Patras to its northwest. The mountain Panachaiko (1926 m), though not the highest of Achaea, dominates the coastal area near Patras. Peiros
The Peiros (, formerly also ''Kamenitza'' and ''Achelous'') is a river in the central and the northwestern parts of Achaea, Greece. It is long. Geography The Peiros is the second longest river in Achaea, after Selinountas (river), Selinountas. It rises in the northeastern part of the Mount Erymanthos, Erymanthos mountains, near the village Farres, Lakkomata. It passes through the municipal units of Farres, Olenia and Dymi, Achaea, Dymi. It empties into the Gulf of Patras between the towns Alissos and Kato Achaia. There are several bridges over the Peiros, including the bridges of the Greek National Road 9/European route E55, E55 (Patras - Pyrgos, Elis, Pyrgos - Kyparissia) and Hellenic Railways Organisation, OSE's Patras–Kyparissia railway line. Agios Stefanos ( meaning Saint Stephen) is a village and a community in the municipality West Achaea, Greece. It is located on both sides of the river Tytheus, 17 km southwest of Patras. Mount Erymanthos (, Latin: ''Erymanthus'') overall is an irregular massif of peaks connected by ridges embedded in the mountains located in the north of the Peloponnese, Greece. Erymanthos is on the west side. Its highest peak, Olenos or Olonos (Ωλενός or Ωλονός), Olenos original and preferred, elevation , is often called Mount Erymanthus, and conversely, Mount Olenos can be used for the entire range, although the customary usage is Erymanthos for the range and Olenos for the peak. Fragma is a German vocal trance music group, originally comprising three producers. The group was successful in the early 2000s when they released several singles that charted successfully across Europe, especially the United Kingdom and Ireland, but also found some success in the United States and Australia. They continued to produce music until 2012 following the departure of vocalist Damae. After several years of hiatus, Fragma recruited a new vocalist in 2017, Tess, to front the group. Alepochori, Achaea
Alepochori () is a village and a community in southern Achaea, Greece. Alepochori is located on the northern slope of Mount Erymanthos, about 35 km south of Patras. The community includes the village Agios Dimitrios. Population History The area followed the fate of the rest of Achaea. Between 1460 and 1821 the area was ruled by the Ottoman Turks, except a brief period of Venetian rule between 1687 and 1715. In the Venetian censuses of 1697 and 1699 the village was called Alpochori Trano (Αλποχώρι Τρανό) and had 111 inhabitants, in 1700, it had 38 families. Alepochori became Greek after the Greek War of Independence of 1821. Alepochori was part of the municipality of Erymanthia between 1835 and 1841, and of the municipality of Tritaia between 1841 and 1912. It was an independent community between 1912 and 1998, and became part of Tritaia again in 1998. At the 2010 Kallikratis reform, it became part of the new municipality Erymanthos. Tritaia () is a former Communities and Municipalities of Greece, municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Erymanthos (municipality), Erymanthos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 244.798 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Stavrodromi. Tritaia was named after the ancient Achaean city Tritaea (Achaea), Tritaea, which was located near the present village Agia Marina. Tritaia is situated in mountainous southern Achaea, on the border with Elis (regional unit), Elis. It nearly surrounds the municipal unit Kalentzi. Farres
Farres () is a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Erymanthos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 241.848 km2. The municipality of Farres existed between 1835 and 1912, and again between 1998 and 2011. Its seat of administration was in the town Chalandritsa. Farres is situated in the centre of Achaea, on the upper courses of the rivers Peiros and Parapeiros. Towards the southeast (Mount Erymanthos) and northeast (Panachaiko) the terrain is increasingly mountainous. It is located about 15 km south of Patras and 30 km west of Kalavryta.
