Phnom Kong Rei
Phnom (Neang) Kong Rei or ''Kong Rei Mountain'' ( km, ភ្នំនាងកង្រី) is a mountain range in Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia. Geography Phnom Kong Rei is a small isolated range of moderate height lying north of Kampong Chhnang city. The range stretches for about 4.5 km in a WNW - ESE direction and is a conspicuous local landmark located north of the town across the Tonle Sap River. Its highest point is 310 m and its silhouette seen from afar rising above the flat landscape looks like a sleeping lady. It is one of the main tourist spots in Kampong Chhnang Province, particularly during Khmer New Year. Along with sightseers, the mountain attracts spiritually motivated laymen and women who come to pray and meditate. The 2001 Pacific typhoon season was the fourth and final consecutive year with below-average activity, making it the lowest four-year period of activity since 1976–1979, due to the presence of a strong La Niña that had persisted from 1998–2001. The season produced twenty-five named storms, sixteen typhoons and three super typhoons. It ran year-round in 2001, with most tropical cyclones in the northwestern Pacific Ocean tending between May and November. However the first named storm, Cimaron, did not develop until May 9. Typhoon Kong-rey was a moderate typhoon that affected Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands in early April 2007. The first named storm of the 2007 Pacific typhoon season, Kong-rey became the earliest-occurring typhoon since Typhoon Sudal in 2004. At its peak, it was considered to be a Category 2-equivalent typhoon by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, though re-analysis increased it to a Category 3-equivalent. Typhoon Kong-rey caused about $10,000 in damages and no injuries along its path. Typhoon Kong-rey, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Queenie, was a large and powerful typhoon that was tied with Typhoon Yutu as the most powerful tropical cyclone worldwide in 2018. The twenty-fifth tropical storm, eleventh typhoon and 6th super typhoon of the 2018 Pacific typhoon season, Kong-rey originated from a tropical disturbance in the open Pacific. For a couple days, it went westward, organizing into a tropical depression on September 27. Then it intensified into a powerful Category 5 super typhoon early on October 2. Kong-rey underwent an eyewall replacement cycle after its peak intensity, causing it to weaken into a Category 3 typhoon under unfavorable conditions.
