Tyack (Mauritius)
Tyack or Tyacke is a Cornish surname. It is an ancient surname and the Tyacks were landowners at an early period. It is thought to be derived from a Celtic word for ploughman. William Tyack was escheator of the Leeward Islands in the reign of James II. Escheat
Escheat is a common law doctrine that transfers the real property of a person who has died without heirs to the crown or state. It serves to ensure that property is not left in "limbo" without recognized ownership. It originally applied to a number of situations where a legal interest in land was destroyed by operation of law, so that the ownership of the land reverted to the immediately superior feudal lord. Etymology The term "escheat" derives ultimately from the Latin ''ex-cadere'', to "fall-out", via mediaeval French ''escheoir''. The sense is of a feudal estate in land falling-out of the possession by a tenant into the possession of the lord. Dave Tyack
Dave Tyack (4 March 1978 – c. 2002), who also recorded under the name Dakota Oak, was an English musician and a founding artist on the Twisted Nerve Records label. He recorded alongside fellow Twisted Nerve artists Badly Drawn Boy and Andy Votel on several releases and played drums with two further bands, Misty Dixon and D.O.T. Tyack was also an accomplished artist and his own drawings featured on the covers of most of his records. Early life and education Tyack was born in Hannover, Germany. He lived until the age of eight in a small village called Bredenbeck on the edge of the Deister wood. His debut full-length album ''Am Deister'' was named after this rural location and many of its tracks were inspired by his childhood adventures. David Tyack
David B. Tyack (November 17, 1930 – October 27, 2016) was the Vida Jacks Professor of Education and Professor of History, Emeritus at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Tyack is known for his wide-ranging studies and interpretations of the history of American education. Tyack took his undergraduate degree in 1952 and his PhD in 1958, both at Harvard University. His dissertation under Bernard Bailyn dealt with "Gentleman of letters: a study of George Ticknor". Tyack taught at Reed College from 1959 to 1966, the University of Illinois from 1967 to 1969, and since 1969 at Stanford University. He received awards from the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. Tyack served as president of the History of Education Society, 1970 to 1971. David Tyacke
Major General David Noel Hugh Tyacke CB OBE (18 November 1915 – 10 February 2010) was a senior British Army officer. His last post was as General Officer Commanding the Singapore District and he had previously been the last commanding officer of 1st Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry (DCLI) prior to amalgamation into the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry. Early life Tyacke was born and raised in Breage in Cornwall, where his family had been involved in tin mining since the early years of the 18th century. His father, Captain Charles Noel Walker Tyacke served in the DCLI during the First World War, fighting at Ypres and Arras, before being killed near the Somme with the 5th Battalion in 1918. Les Tyack
Leslie Tyack (17 December 1899 – 19 May 1970) was an Australian politician. He was born in Melbourne and attended state school at Portarlington. He worked for the Sunshine Harvester Company, before serving in World War I in France. On his return he qualified as a chartered accountant and worked for the Victorian Crown Law Department. On 15 January 1927, he married schoolteacher Thelma Camille La Mascotte Kirkham, with whom he had one daughter. He worked as an accountant for various firms, and from 1930 to 1951 was a member of Hawthorn City Council, of which he was mayor from 1948 to 1949. In 1939 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Hawthorn, but he was defeated in 1940. Ryan Tyack
Ryan Tyack (born 2 June 1991) is an Australian archer competing in men's recurve events at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He earned a gold medal at the 2006 Junior World Outdoor Target Championships in the male recurve cadet event. He also won a gold at the 2008 World Youth Archery Championships in the men's under-18 event. He was named to the Australian archery shadow Olympic squad for the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won the individual competition at the 2014 World Indoor Archery Championships. Personal Tyack is from Nambour, Queensland on the Sunshine Coast. From an early age Tyack spent most of his time playing archery or fencing games on his computer.
