Description The peak straddles a ridge separating the Suisun Valley wine region in Solano County on the east side from the Napa Valley wine region on the west side, and is a prominent landmark visible from most points in Suisun Valley. The north summit at an elevation of is the tallest of the two, and the lower south summit rises to an elevation of . It is the second highest peak in Solano County, Mount Vaca being the highest. Origin of name The origin of the name Twin sisters is unknown. However, the name was evidently well established when Munro-Fraser (1879) wrote his ''History of Solano County''. Suisun Valley
The Suisun Valley AVA is an American Viticultural Area in Solano County, California, located just east of the Napa Valley wine region in the Coast Range. It was established as a wine appellation on 27 December 1982. Geography Suisun Valley is a region in the California Coast Ranges that is bordered on the east side by the Blue Ridge of the Vaca Mountains, and on the west side by the Howell Mountains, which are also called the St. George Range. The valley is located almost entirely in Solano County with a northern terminus near the county line with Napa County, and a southern terminus at Suisun Bay in the estuary where the Sacramento River enters San Francisco Bay. Elevations on the valley floor range from above sea level, rising steeply to at Okell Hill on the north side, and to on the west side at Twin Sisters, a twin summit that is the high point of the Howell Mountains, as well as a prominent landmark in the valley.
