Twice Born (1983 Film)
''Twice Born'' (russian: Дважды рождённый) is a 1983 Soviet war film directed by Arkadi Sirenko. Plot The film takes place in the White Sea in 1942. The film tells about the rookie Andrei Bulygin, who becomes an assistant of machine gunner on the ship, which is engaged in the delivery of soldiers and weapons to the fleet. When they set off, the Germans stoke the ship and only Andrei saved his life. Will he be able to withstand the cold and the German pilot attacking him? Viktor Petrovich Astafyev also spelled Astafiev or Astaf'ev (russian: Ви́ктор Петро́вич Аста́фьев; 1 May 1924 – 29 November 2001), was a Soviet and Russian writer, playwright and screenwriter. He was recognized with the title Hero of Socialist Labour in 1989. Biography Viktor Astafyev was born in the village of Ovsyanka (then Krasnoyarsk Uyezd, Yeniseysk Governorate, Russian SFSR) on the bank of the Yenisey river. Edison Vasilievich Denisov (russian: Эдисо́н Васи́льевич Дени́сов, 6 April 1929 – 24 November 1996) was a Russian composer in the so-called " Underground", "alternative" or "nonconformist" division of Soviet music. Biography Denisov was born in Tomsk, Siberia. He studied mathematics before deciding to spend his life composing. This decision was enthusiastically supported by Dmitri Shostakovich, who gave him lessons in composition. In 1951–56 Denisov studied at the Moscow Conservatory: composition with Vissarion Shebalin, orchestration with Nikolai Rakov, analysis with Viktor Tsukkerman and piano with Vladimir Belov. In 1956–59 he composed the opera ''Ivan-Soldat'' (Soldier Ivan) in three acts based on Russian folk fairy tales.
