Twenty Years Later
''Twenty Years Later'' () is a 1984 Brazilian documentary film directed by Eduardo Coutinho. It originated in 1964 as a planned feature film about the life and death of João Pedro Teixeira, a leader of the Peasant leagues from Paraíba who was assassinated on the order of local landowners in 1962. But before it could be completed, production was interrupted by political developments, with some of the crew and cast arrested and their materials confiscated by the Brazilian military dictatorship. In 1984, Coutinho returned to the material, shooting new footage of some of the actors and crew. The resulting critically acclaimed documentary gained a cult following and Brazilian Film Critics Association selected it as one of the best Brazilian films of all time. Eduardo Coutinho
Eduardo de Oliveira Coutinho (May 11, 1933 – February 2, 2014) was a Brazilian documentary filmmaker, director, screenwriter, film producer and former reporter, known as one of the most important documentarists in Brazil. He directed and wrote the script to the 1967 popular Brazilian film, '' ABC do amor'' near the beginning of his career. The film was entered into the 17th Berlin International Film Festival. He died on February 2, 2014, in a suspected murder in Rio de Janeiro. His son, who has schizophrenia, is a prime suspect in the ongoing investigation. Festroia International Film Festival
The Tróia International Film Festival, commonly referred to as Festroia (), was an annual international film festival in Portugal held from 1985 to 2014. Held in the town of Setúbal and named after the nearby Tróia Peninsula where the festival was originally based until 1993, the festival showcased mainly arthouse films made by smaller or less publicised national cinemas from around the world. In later editions its competitive section was open to films from countries producing less than 30 feature films per year.
