Tweaking
Tweaking refers to fine-tuning or adjusting a complex system, usually an electronic device. Tweaks are any small modifications intended to improve a system. In electronics, it is a synonym for "trimming." Analog circuit boards often have small potentiometers or other components on them that are used to calibrate or adjust the board as a service procedure: the small insulated screwdriver used to turn them is often called a "tweaker." This use was echoed in the name of the product ''Tweek'', a popular but controversial audio product during the 1980s, which was claimed to improve the electrical characteristics of audio switch contacts. Tweak Programming Environment
Tweak is a graphical user interface (GUI) layer written by Andreas Raab for the Squeak development environment, which in turn is an integrated development environment based on the Smalltalk-80 computer programming language. Tweak is an alternative to an earlier graphic user interface layer called Morphic. Development began in 2001. Applications that use the Tweak software include Sophie (version 1), a multimedia and e-book authoring system, and a family of virtual world systems: Open Cobalt, Teleplace, OpenQwaq, 3d ICC's Immersive Terf and the Croquet Project. Influences An experimental version of Etoys, a programming environment for children, used Tweak instead of Morphic. Tweak UI
Tweak UI is a free application, released in 1996 by Microsoft for customizing the Microsoft Windows operating system's user interface. Tweak UI modifies the Windows Registry in the same way as a user could edit it manually with a program such as RegEdit, but provides a simple graphical user interface that does not need knowledge of the registry structure, is quicker and easier to use, and not susceptible to registry damage due to user error. Tweak UI was formerly downloadable free of charge from Microsoft's website. It is one of Microsoft's many non-supported ''PowerToys''. Tweakers (formerly called Tweakers.net) is a Dutch technology website featuring news and information about hardware, software, games and the Internet. The name is derived from the verb "tweaking", which is a word geeks use to refer to optimisation of hardware. Tweakers has grown substantially since its conception. Nowadays, it publishes news, reviews, features and video reports about technology subjects, with a strong focus on the Netherlands and Belgium. Tweak7 (previously TweakVista) is a software tool for Windows Vista and Windows 7 that allows modification of various OS-specific functions, most notably the settings surrounding the Desktop Window Manager, User Account Control and startup programs. A beta version became available in July 2005, with a complete overhaul in June 2007. A Windows 7 version was released in October 2009. The program offers changes on two levels - a first level for non-technical users with descriptions in "plain language", and a second level for power users. It was recommended by ''Personal Computer World'' as "a very useful tool that doesn’t require advanced knowledge." Tweak is an Irish-owned business, founded in 2008 by Jerry Kennelly. Kennelly is an entrepreneur from County Kerry who developed Stockbyte, which was acquired by Getty Images in 2006. Kennelly began developing Tweak two years after Stockbyte was acquired by Getty Images and was officially launched in 2011. Tweak's headquarters are in Killorglin in County Kerry, Ireland. There are also offices in both County Dublin and New York. There are two categories of services – Tweak and Tweak Cloud, which was launched in 2016. Tweak was an alternative rock band from South Africa. Remaining members of the band formed Crashcarburn after the rest of the band parted ways in 2006 to pursue personal projects. They have returned three times for a reunion tour, and the first two of these times they accompanied their comeback with a new song. History Early days, ''Take Note'' Tweak was formed in late 1998 by Garth Barnes, Mike Stott, and Chris Brink. With the money won from a Battle of the Bands contest in August 2000 they recorded their debut EP, ''Take Note'', at a tiny single garage at B Sharp Studios in Boksburg with the help of a local producer, John Paul de Stefani. Produced by Kunica and Glockie Cheez, the song was released on January 3, 2025, after which it immediately gained traction online and became his breakout hit. A remix of the song featuring American rapper Lil Wayne was released on February 7, 2025. Background The beat of the song was purchased on BeatStars. In late December 2024, LiAngelo Ball previewed the song on Internet personality N3on's livestream with a snippet of the chorus. LiAngelo Robert Ball (born November 24, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League. Ball played for Chino Hills High School in California, where he won a state championship and achieved national success as a junior with his brothers Lonzo, and LaMelo, who are both current NBA guards. A stereotypy (, or ) is a repetitive or ritualistic movement, posture, or utterance. Stereotypies may be simple movements such as body rocking, or complex, such as self-caressing, crossing and uncrossing of legs, and marching in place. Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 12 also known as TNF-related weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''TNFSF12'' gene. Function TWEAK was discovered in 1997. The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This protein is a ligand for the FN14/ TWEAKR receptor. This cytokine has overlapping signaling functions with TNF, but displays a much wider tissue distribution.
