Shade Gap is a borough in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 105 at the 2010 census. Geography Shade Gap is located in southeastern Huntingdon County. It sits at the eastern base of Shade Mountain just south of that mountain's water gap where Shade Creek passes through. The borough is entirely surrounded by Dublin Township. Tuscarora Mountain
Tuscarora Mountain is a mountain ridge of the Appalachian Mountains in the Ridge and Valley province in central Pennsylvania. It reaches its highest point on Big Mountain (Pennsylvania) at above sea level. The mountain is named after the Tuscarora people. The mountain runs from northeast to southwest, extending from the Juniata River at Millerstown in the north to the end of Cove Mountain at Cowans Gap in the south. Part of it forms the border between Fulton and Franklin counties. Much of Pennsylvania State Game Lands 124 lies on Tuscarora Mountain. Port Royal, Pennsylvania
Port Royal is a borough in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 815 at the 2020 census. History Port Royal used to be named Perrysville, after Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. At the time, the Port Royal post office was located in Saint Tammany town, just across the Tuscarora Creek. However, the Pennsylvania Railroad brought increased traffic through the area and prompted a move of the Port Royal post office into Perrysville in 1847. In 1874, the borough took on the name itself and Saint Tammany became known as Old Port. Throughout the history of Port Royal, the general population was almost centered around agriculture. Academia Pomeroy Covered Bridge
The Academia Pomeroy Covered Bridge at (portal to portal) is the longest remaining covered bridge in Pennsylvania. Built in 1902, this single-lane, double-span wooden covered bridge crosses Tuscarora Creek between Spruce Hill and Beale Townships, in Juniata County. Its design is based on the Burr truss developed by Theodore Burr, who was the preeminent bridge designer and builder of his time.
