Turramurra High School
Turramurra High School is a large public comprehensive co-educational high school of approximately 1177 students, operated by the New South Wales Department of Education, located in South Turramurra, a residential area on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1967, although the current premises weren't occupied until 1968, it adjoins the Lane Cove National Park. The school has links with nearby Macquarie University and the Whitehouse Institute of Design as well as local business organisations. The current school principal is Desley Pfeffer. Shane Gould
Shane Elizabeth Gould (born 23 November 1956) is an Australian former competition swimmer. She won three gold medals, a silver medal and a bronze, at the 1972 Summer Olympics, becoming the first woman swimmer to win five individual medals. In 2018, she won the fifth season of '' Australian Survivor,'' becoming the oldest winner of any ''Survivor'' franchise. Gould was born in Australia, but spent most of her childhood in Fiji after she and her family moved there. After her 1972 Olympic performance, Gould was named the Australian of the Year, and received an MBE in 1983. In April 2018, Gould was awarded an Order of Merit by the Australian Olympic Committee. Anne-Marie Lucienne Schwirtlich , is an Australian librarian who was the Director-General of the National Library of Australia from 2011 to 2017. In 2015, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Goalball
Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a visual impairment, vision impairment. Participants compete in teams of three, and try to throw a ball with bells embedded inside it into the opponents' goal. The ball is thrown by hand and never kicked. Using ear–hand coordination, originating as a rehabilitation exercise, the sport has no able-bodied equivalent. Sighted athletes are also blindfolded when playing this sport. Played indoors, usually on a volleyball court, games consist of twelve-minute halves (formerly ten-minute halves) with a three-minute half-time. Where there is a tie, golden goal overtime occurs in the form of two three-minute periods (and a second three-minute half-time). Amy Ridley (born 10 July 2002) is an Australian goalball athlete. She represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Personal life Ridley was born on 10 July 2002. At the age of six she was diagnosed with panuveitis, an autoimmune disease. She attended Turramurra High School. In 2021, she is a full-time student, studying law and business, and working casually as an academic tutor. Her father is Andrew Ridley. The 2024 Major League Baseball Draft took place on July 14–16, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. Travis William Bazzana (born 28 August 2002) is an Australian professional baseball second baseman in the Cleveland Guardians organization. Gail Neall (born 2 August 1955), also known by her married name Gail Yeo, is an Australian former medley swimmer who raced in the 1970s. She won a gold medal in the 400-metre individual medley at the 1972 Summer Olympics in world record time. Early years The youngest of four children, Neall's family moved to Brisbane in the year of her birth. Her father Allan was a graduate of the University of Queensland and had found a job with an oil company. Her brother was 13 years older than she was, while her two sisters were twelve and eight years her senior, respectively.
