Turn Records is an independent record label founded in 1999 in Santa Clara, California by Jeff Walsh, who was a DJ at KSCU (Santa Clara University) at the time. Thee More Shallows
Thee More Shallows is a three-piece experimental indie rock band based in San Francisco, California. It was formed in 2001. The band consists of Dee (ne David) Kesler, Chavo Fraser and Jason Gonzales. History The three musicians who would come to constitute Thee More Shallows met for the first time at a concert in 2001, where they were all playing with different groups. Songwriter Dee Kesler at the time was in a band called Shackleton along with Tadas Kisielius, and the two of them became the founding members of the group originally known as simply Thee Shallows. Tadas soon moved away, however, and so Kesler brought in Jason Gonzales of The Cubby Creatures and Chavo Fraser, both of whom were performing as drummers at the time. Citizens Here and Abroad is an indie rock group from San Francisco, California, United States, that formed in 2002. Band history Citizens Here and Abroad was formed in 2002 when Adrienne Robillard and Dan Lowrie, following the breakup of their previous band Secadora, happened to move into an apartment across the street from Dealership drummer Chris Wetherell. Neighborly talking led to musical collaboration. Taking their name from a 1953 Girl Scout manual discovered on a bookshelf at a boozy Oakland house party, the trio cemented their lineup with Dealership bass player/vocalist Chris Groves. Their sound has been described as dreamy and cerebral. Dealership is an American indie rock band based in Berkeley, California, thought to be disbanded. History The band was formed in 1995 at UC Berkeley by Chris Wetherell and his friend Chris Groves after the two had attended a Primus concert. After the concert, Wetherell went to a Guitar Center with a student loan check and said to an employee, "I would like the stuff to make a band". He bought microphones, microphone stands, a guitar amplifier, two electric guitars and a drum kit – without knowing how to play any of them. Eventually, Wetherell decided to play drums while Groves, who had played upright bass in high school, played bass guitar. During the summer, they began holding auditions for a third band member, though these were largely unsuccessful. The auditions were held at Wetherell's place. Xiu Xiu ( ) is an American experimental band, formed in 2002 by singer-songwriter Jamie Stewart in San Jose, California. Currently, the line-up consists of Stewart (the only constant member since formation) and Angela Seo. The band's name comes from the film '' Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl'', which has influenced the sound of their music, according to Stewart. Xiu Xiu released their first two albums, '' Knife Play'' (2002) and ''A Promise'' (2003) on 5 Rue Christine to positive critical reception. In-between the two, the EP ''Chapel of the Chimes'' was released via Absolutely Kosher. The compilation album '' Fag Patrol'' was released shortly after, and their third studio album ''Fabulous Muscles'' was released in 2004.
