The Hotrats
The Hotrats (originally the Diamond Hoo Ha Men) were a cover band formed by Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey as a side-project from their main band Supergrass. The band were named after Frank Zappa's album '' Hot Rats''. The duo recorded a set of covers with producer Nigel Godrich for an album entitled '' Turn Ons'' in the vein of David Bowie's '' Pin Ups'' which was released in early 2010. They performed a short UK tour which included the Reading and Leeds Festivals. Since Supergrass announced they were to split, The Hotrats have joined with Air to perform '' The Virgin Suicides'' live for the first time, over several concert dates. John Densmore
John Paul Densmore (born December 1, 1944) is an American musician. He is best known as the drummer of the Rock music, rock band the Doors and as such is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He appeared on every recording made by the band, with drumming inspired by jazz and world music as much as by rock and roll. The many honors he shares with the other Doors include a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Grammy Award for lifetime achievement and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Densmore is also noted for his veto of attempts by the other two Doors members, in the wake of singer Jim Morrison's 1971 death, to accept offers to license the rights to various Doors songs for commercial purposes as well as his objections to their use in the 21st century of the Doors name and logo. Ray Manzarek
Raymond Daniel Manzarek Jr. ( Manczarek; February 12, 1939 – May 20, 2013) was an American keyboardist. He is best known as a member of the rock band the Doors, co-founding the group in 1965 with fellow UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, UCLA Film School graduate Jim Morrison. Manzarek is credited for his innovative playing and abilities on Organ (music), organ-style keyboard instruments. Manzarek was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 as a Doors member. The Crystal Ship
"The Crystal Ship" is a song by American rock band the Doors, from their 1967 debut album ''The Doors'', and the B-side of the number-one hit single " Light My Fire". It was composed as a love song to Jim Morrison's first serious girlfriend, Mary Werbelow, shortly after their relationship ended. The song borrows elements from baroque music. The lyrics in the opening verse resemble a conventional love song, while the later verses are vague in intention and contain more challenging imagery. A music video was later compiled from footage of the band performing on ''American Bandstand'', coupled with film of Morrison and Pamela Courson at Kern River, near Bakersfield, California.
