Turkish Super Cup
The Turkish Super Cup, known as Turkcell Super Cup () for sponsorship reasons, is a super cup tournament in Turkish football. Founded in 1966 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2025 by four teams: the winners and runners-up of the Turkish Cup and Süper Lig. It was originally known as the ''Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası'' (Presidential Cup) from 1966 to 1998. No competition was held between 1999 and 2005, although there was a substitute competition played under the name of Atatürk Cup in 2000. The rebranded ''TFF Süper Kupa'' is a curtain raiser for the upcoming footballing season, usually taking place in August. In case of a team achieving the double, the Turkish Cup runners-up become finalists. The current holders are 2023–24 Turkish Cup winners Beşiktaş, who won against 2023–24 Süper Lig winners Galatasaray in the 2024 edition. 1980 Turkish Coup D'état
The 1980 Turkish coup d'état (), headed by Chief of the General Staff General Kenan Evren, was the third coup d'état in the history of the Republic of Turkey, the previous having been the 1960 coup and the 1971 coup by memorandum. During the Cold War era, Turkey saw political violence (1976–1980) between the far-left, the far-right ( Grey Wolves), the Islamist militant groups, and the state. Riyadh Season () is a series of entertainment, cultural, and sporting events held in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh. The 2023 Turkish Super Cup, also known as 2023 Turkcell Super Cup () for sponsorship reasons, was the 50th edition of the Turkish Super Cup since its establishment as ''Presidential Cup'' in 1966, the annual Turkish football match contested by the winners of the previous season's top league and cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). The game, originally scheduled for 29 December 2023, between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, was intended to take place at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; however, it did not proceed as planned due to disagreements between the involved clubs and Saudi authorities. Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium
The Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium () was the main stadium of Ankara and was used by Gençlerbirliği and Ankaragücü as their home venue, until its closure in 2018. It was built in 1930 and is part of the 19 Mayıs Sports Complex, which is located in the Ulus district. The stadium had a capacity of 19,209 (all-seater). Ankaraspor also used the stadium until they moved to their new venue in the Yenikent district.
