Turkish Airlines Open
The Turkish Airlines Open is a European Tour golf tournament played annually in Turkey since 2013. In both 2013 and 2014 the tournament was the penultimate event of the European Tour Final Series. The first three tournaments were held at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal. In October 2015, it was announced that Turkish Airlines would continue as headline sponsor the tournament for a further three years and it will move to Regnum Carya Golf Club from 2016. Victor Dubuisson won the first event in 2013 by two shots from Jamie Donaldson. In 2013 qualification was open to the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking three weeks before the event, five tournament invitations, three Turkish players, with the remainder from the 2013 Race to Dubai to make up a field of 78. Belek
Belek is a township in the Serik district in Turkey's Antalya Province. The local population in 2022 is 73,260. Belek is one of the centers of Turkey's tourism industry and is home to more than thirty four-star and five-star hotels and many other accommodation services and entertainment facilities. The town and the surrounding area are famous for their spas and mineral waters received from seven springs. Belek is a developing golf center. In 2012 it hosted the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final and in 2013 it hosted the Turkish Airlines Open. 2019 European Tour
The 2019 European Tour was the 48th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972 and the 11th edition of the Race to Dubai. The Race to Dubai was won by Spain's Jon Rahm, who was also named Golfer of the Year. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre was the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. Changes for 2019 Rule changes From January 1, 2019 onwards, tournaments followed the new rules released by the USGA and The R&A which were designed to simplify the rule book and speed up the pace of play. The most noticeable changes included golfers being able to putt on the green with the flag remaining in, and drops being made from knee rather than shoulder height. Thorbjørn Olesen
Jacob Thorbjørn Olesen (born 21 December 1989) is a Danish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour, where he has won six times including the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open and the 2018 Italian Open. He has also won two important pairs events, representing Denmark, the 2016 World Cup of Golf with Søren Kjeldsen and the 2017 GolfSixes with Lucas Bjerregaard. Professional career Olesen turned professional in 2008. He finished in fourth place on the third tier Nordic League rankings in 2009, having won three tournaments, to graduate to Europe's second tier Challenge Tour for 2010. 2016 European Tour
The 2016 European Tour was the eighth edition of the Race to Dubai and the 45th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The Race to Dubai was won for the second time by Sweden's Henrik Stenson, who was also named Golfer of the Year. The Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year was Wang Jeung-hun from South Korea. Rule changes For the 2016 season, the European Tour modified its membership requirements from 13 tournaments inclusive of the four majors and four World Golf Championships, to 5 tournaments exclusive of them; the change was intended to make it easier for United States-based players outside the top-50 in the world rankings to retain their membership, as they may not be eligible for the majors and WGCs. Dylan Ashley Frittelli (born 5 June 1990) is a South African professional golfer. He currently plays on the PGA Tour where he won the John Deere Classic in 2019. He previously played on the European Tour where he won twice in 2017, the Lyoness Open and the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Amateur career Frittelli won the 2007 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships for boys aged 15 to 17. Frittelli played college golf at the University of Texas, where he won the decisive match to lead his team to victory at the 2012 NCAA Championship. He represented South Africa in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2008 and 2010. Professional career Frittelli turned professional after the 2012 NCAA Championship and played on the European Tour via sponsors exemptions for the rest of the year. Nicolas Colsaerts (born 14 November 1982) is a Belgian professional golfer currently playing on the European Tour and previously on the PGA Tour. Early life Colsaerts, also known as "The Belgian Bomber", was born in Schaerbeek, Belgium. Coming from a sporting family (his great grandfather represented Belgium at basketball and water polo at the 1920 Olympic Games), he started playing golf at 6 years old in Brussels, Belgium. He had a very successful junior and amateur career; he was selected twice for the Junior Ryder Cup (in 1997 and 1999), and represented Belgium at the 1998 and 2000 Eisenhower Trophy. Li Haotong (, born 3 August 1995) is a Chinese professional golfer. Career Li turned professional in 2011 and played his early pro career on the OneAsia Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. He also competed in a few European Tour events. Justin Rose
Justin Peter Rose, (born 30 July 1980) is an English professional golfer who plays most of his golf on the PGA Tour, while keeping his membership on the European Tour. He won his first major championship at the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club, becoming the first English player to win a major since Nick Faldo in 1996 and the first to win the U.S. Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Rose won gold at the men's individual tournament. The 2018 European Tour is the 47th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972 and the 10th edition of the Race to Dubai. The Race to Dubai was won by Italian Francesco Molinari, who was also named Golfer of the Year. India's Shubhankar Sharma was named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. Erik van Rooyen (born 21 February 1990) is a South African professional golfer currently playing on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. He won the 2019 Scandinavian Invitation on the European Tour, and the 2021 Barracuda Championship on the PGA Tour. Amateur career Van Rooyen attended the University of Minnesota from 2009, turning professional in 2013. Professional career Van Rooyen has played on the Sunshine Tour since turning professional. Matthias Schwab (born 9 December 1994) is an Austrian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. Amateur career Schwab had a successful amateur career. He reached the final of the 2012 Amateur Championship, losing to Alan Dunbar by 1 hole. He attended Vanderbilt University from 2013 to 2017. While at Vanderbilt he was joint third in the individual competition in both the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships.
