Turati is a station on Line 3 of the Milan Metro which opened on 1 May 1990, as part of the inaugural section of the line between Duomo and Centrale. Initially, Duomo was connected with Centrale by shuttle service, and on 16 December 1990, with the extension of the line to Porta Romana, full-scale service started. The station is located on Via Filippo Turati, near Piazza Cavour, in the city centre of Milan. Duomo is an interchange station serving Lines 1 and 3 of the Milan Metro. The station is underground and located at Piazza Duomo, the central area of Milan. The Line 1 station was opened on 1 November 1964 as part of the inaugural section of the Metro, between Sesto Marelli and Lotto. On 1 May 1990, it became an interchange with Line 3. Porta Romana is a station on Line 3 of the Milan Metro which opened on 16 December 1990 as part of the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana. Filippo Turati (; 26 November 1857 – 29 March 1932) was an Italian sociologist, criminologist, poet and socialist politician. Early life Born in Canzo, province of Como, he graduated in law at the University of Bologna in 1877, and participated in the '' Scapigliatura'' movement with the most important artists of the period in Milan, publishing poetry. Porta Venezia (formerly known as Porta Orientale, Porta Renza and by other names) is one of the historical gates of the city of Milan, Italy.
