Turabad
Turabad is a village situated in Zangilan district of Azerbaijan. It is located on the right bank of the Okhchuchay River, southeast of Zangilan and north of Minjivan at an altitude of 409 m above sea level. A native of the village is Asad Asadov, a military pilot and National Hero of Azerbaijan. History According to the results of the Azerbaijani Agricultural Census of 1921, Turabad and the village of Babayugly of the Gubadly district of Azerbaijan SSR were inhabited by 153 people (44 households), the predominant nationality being Azerbaijani Turks. In 1993, during the First Karabakh War, the territory of the Turabad village was occupied by Armenian forces and was destroyed. Asad Asadov
Asad Soltan oghlu Asadov () (22 March 1956, Zangilan, Azerbaijan SSR - 29 October 1991, Khojaly, Azerbaijan) was the National Hero of Azerbaijan and warrior during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Early life and education Asadov was born on March 22, 1956, in Turabad village of Zangilan raion of Azerbaijan SSR. In 1975, he completed his secondary education at Mincivan village secondary school. Asadov served in the Soviet Armed Forces. He completed his military service in Krasnokutsky District of Saratov Oblast of Russia. Then he was admitted to the Krasnokutsk Aviation School. Personal life Asadov was married and had four children. First Nagorno-Karabakh War Asad Asadov was the commander of the AN-2 plane of Yevlakh Aviation Company. On October 29, 1991, Asadov flew to the war zone of Nagorno Karabakh with his technical personnel. Administrative Divisions Of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is administratively divided into 66 districts () and 11 cities () that are subordinate to the Republic. Out of these, 7 districts and 1 city is located within the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The districts are further divided into municipalities (). Voghji (river)
The Voghji ( hy, Ողջի, translit=Oġǰi) or Okchuchay ( az, Oxçuçay) is a river on the south slopes of the Lesser Caucasus range, and is a left tributary of Aras. It flows through the territory of Armenia and Azerbaijan. In its upper reaches, it has formed a deep canyon which, near the city of Kapan, turns into a wide valley. It is fed by a range of sources. Mincivan
Mincivan () is a town in the Zangilan District of Azerbaijan. History Mincivan was part of the Zangezur Uyezd of the Elisabethpol Governorate in the Russian Empire. The town was located in the Armenian-occupied territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, coming under the control of ethnic Armenian forces in 1993 during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. The town subsequently became part of the breakaway Republic of Artsakh as part of its Kashatagh Province, referred to as Mijnavan ( hy, Միջնավան). National Hero Of Azerbaijan
The National Hero of Azerbaijan ( az, Azərbaycan milli qəhrəmanı) is the highest Hero (title), national title in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The title was named on 25 March 1992, and the "Qizil Ulduz" Medal awarded as a sign of receiving this title was established by a separate law in 15 July 1992. The law on the title has been in effect since 25 December 1995. It can only be awarded once to the same person. The title is awarded for outstanding services of national importance to Azerbaijan in defence and strengthening of the state system and creation of important national values.
