Tunapuna
Tunapuna is a town in the East–West Corridor of the island of Trinidad, in Trinidad and Tobago. Town Tunapuna is located between St. Augustine, Tacarigua and Trincity. Tunapuna is the largest town between San Juan and Arima. It is an important market and commercial centre, and is the seat of the Tunapuna–Piarco Regional Corporation. The Tunapuna Parliamentary seat is a marginal, hence popular wisdom dictates: ''"If you win Tunapuna, you win the elections."'' The only gurdwara (Sikh temple) in Trinidad and Tobago is located in Tunapuna and dates back to some of the first Punjabi Indian immigrants in 1929. Tunapuna–Piarco Regional Corporation
Tunapuna–Piarco is one of the 9 regions of Trinidad and Tobago. It is the most populous region in the country by total population and the fifth-largest by total land area. Geographically located in Northern Trinidad, Tunapuna–Piarco shares its borders with the regions of San Juan–Laventille to the west, Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo to the south, the Borough of Chaguanas to the south-west, Sangre Grande to the east and the Caribbean Sea to the north. The region also completely surrounds the Royal Chartered Borough of Arima, which is located in the south-eastern corner of the region. Tunapuna–Piarco is one of the most geographically diverse regions in Trinidad and Tobago. Stern John
Stern John (born 30 October 1976) is a Trinidadian football manager and former player who is currently managing Saint Lucia. He managed Anguilla from 2020 to 2022. He previously played for a number of American and English football clubs that included Columbus Crew, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City, Coventry City, Derby County, Sunderland, Southampton, Bristol City, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town. East–West Corridor
The East–West Corridor is the built-up area of north Trinidad stretching from the capital, Port of Spain, east to Arima. The term was coined by economist and political philosopher Lloyd Best, after gleaning the works of a technocrat named Lynette Attwell. Donald Heywood
Donald Heywood (24 October 1896 – 13 January 1967) was a Trinidadian-born American songwriter, composer, writer and director. He composed for " I'm Coming Virginia" in 1926, which became a hit for Ethel Waters. He became a prominent figure in black musical theater, and produced scores for films such as '' Moon Over Harlem'' (1939) and '' Murder on Lenox Avenue'' (1941). Trincity
Trincity is a planned community in northern Trinidad. It is located along the East–West Corridor south of Tunapuna and north of Piarco. It is part of the Trincity/Maloney parliamentary constituency with a area of 1.087 km². Its has a population of 10,075 residents. It also has two schools Dinsley/Trincity Government Primary School and Bishop’s/Trinity East College, a secondary school. Trincity was developed by Home Construction Limited which is part of CL Financial (CLF) group. In recent years Trincity has been one of the major growth areas in Trinidad and Tobago (together with Chaguanas). Tacarigua
Tacarigua (originally San Pablo de Tacarigua) is a town in the East–West Corridor of Trinidad and Tobago. It is located east of Tunapuna, north of Trincity and west of Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago, Arouca. It is on the banks of the Tacarigua River. The city is governed by the Tunapuna–Piarco Regional Corporation. Tacarigua was originally a Spanish ''encomienda'', prior to the relocation of the Amerindians to Arima in 1789. Some of the first mosques in the region were built at Tacarigua in 1850. West Indies cricket team, West Indian cricket player Kieron Pollard was born there in 1987. There is a multisport facility in Tacarigua, the Racquet Sport Centre, which has been host to local and international tournaments in tennis, table tennis and badminton. Ethel Waters (October 31, 1896 – September 1, 1977) was an American singer and actress. Waters frequently performed jazz, swing, and pop music on the Broadway stage and in concerts. ''"I'm Coming Virginia"'' is a song composed in 1926 by Donald Heywood with lyrics by Will Marion Cook. It is often wrongly attributed to vocalist Ethel Waters, who first recorded it on September 18, 1926, with Will Marion Cook's Singing Orchestra. Waters is credited with popularizing it. Cornetist Bix Beiderbecke, pianist Fats Waller (with Fletcher Henderson) and the Paul Whiteman Orchestra featuring Bing Crosby all recorded it in 1927.
