Tunabunny
Tunabunny are an indie rock band from Athens, Georgia, US, formed in 2008. Biography Tunabunny were formed in 2008 by Brigette Herron, Scott Creney, Mary Jane Hassell and Chloe Tewksbury. Following a Split single (music), split single (with Hulaboy) in 2009, Tunabunny released their eponymous debut album in 2010, issued as with their subsequent records by Athens label Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records. Second album ''Minima Moralia'' was released the following year to positive reviews, including from ''Razorcake''. Tewksbury was replaced by new drummer Jesse Stinnard in time for a UK tour with Shrag in 2012 which saw the release of a split single between the two bands, a joint release on the Fortuna Pop! label. Third album ''Genius Fatigue'' followed, and was praised by ''Drowned in Sound'', ''The Line of Best Fit'' and AllMusic. Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records is an American independent record label based in Athens, Georgia. Its catalogue features indie rock, indie pop and hip-hop music, with several of its artists associated with or influenced by The Elephant 6 Recording Company. History The label began as a compilation album, ''Happy Happy Birthday To Me Volume 1'', before it expanded into a 7" singles club, which released records by Of Montreal, Marshmallow Coast, The Essex Green, Great Lakes, and Masters of the Hemisphere, while also releasing several tape and CD compilations. The singles club was noted for its individuality, with each individual record by an artist often being different. For example, each copy of The Essex Green's single came with a different original photograph on the sleeve, while Marshmallow Coast's were hand-drawn by school children. Shrag
Shrag were a British post-punk-influenced indie pop band, based in London and Brighton. The band released three albums on the Where It's at Is Where You Are label, the last a joint release on Fortuna Pop! Formation and early years Shrag's first release was the home-recorded song "Punk Grammar", which debuted on ''Under The Beach, A Heart Attack'' – a 2003 compilation album and fanzine of Brighton bands, put together by local club night It Came From The Sea, and featuring a foreword by the then Brighton-based music critic Everett True. The fanzine tells the story of Shrag's formation in a comic book format. Indietracks
Indietracks was an annual indie pop music festival at the Midland Railway in Butterley, Derbyshire, UK. The main site was located at Swanwick Junction. Bands played in variety of locations, including a restored church, in a train shed, and on the moving trains themselves. The event was staffed by volunteers, with the proceeds from the festival going towards the upkeep and renovation of the site and trains. The first indiepop event held at the centre was in April 2007, organised by steam train restorer Stuart Mackay. Indietracks was established as a two-day festival in summer that year. Reviewing the 2011 festival, Malcolm Jack of ''The Guardian'' described the artists as "so obscure you have to wonder if they've even heard of themselves". Indiepop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. In later years, the definition of ''indie pop'' has bifurcated to also mean bands from unrelated DIY scenes/movements with pop leanings. Subgenres include chamber pop and twee pop.
