Tudor Hall (Bel Air, Maryland)
Tudor Hall is a historic home located at Bel Air, Harford County, Maryland, United States. It is a -story Gothic Revival cottage built of painted brick. The house was built as a country retreat by Junius Brutus Booth (1796–1852) from Plates 44 and 45, Design XVII, of ''The Architect'', by William H. Ranlett, 1847. However, Booth never lived in Tudor Hall, because he died before it was completed. His son Edwin Booth lived there only briefly on his return from California before he moved the family back into Baltimore. But his other son, John Wilkes Booth, lived there with his mother, brother Joseph, and two sisters from December 1852 through most of 1856. After the family moved out, they rented the home to the King family and later sold it to Sam Kyle and Ella Mahoney. She lived in Tudor Hall for 70 years and opened a museum. Tudor Hall School, Banbury
Tudor Hall School is an independent day and boarding school for girls in Oxfordshire, situated between Bloxham and Banbury. It was founded by a Baptist Minister and his wife, and moved to several different places before the purchase of its current premises after the Second World War. History Tudor Hall was founded in 1850 in Salisbury, by the Rev.John Wood Todd and his wife Martha, and moved to the Forest Hill area of London in around 1854, initially at Perry Hill House, and later at Red Hall, or Tudor House, from which the school's name emerged. By the 1900s, the school had expanded and was in need of more space. In 1908, it moved to Chislehurst in Kent. The school later went through difficult times and had to be closed down for a term in 1935. Former pupil Nesta Inglis, elder daughter of banker and Marylebone Cricket Club amateur cricketer Alfred Inglis, took over as headmistress and re opened the school. A merger of Tudor Hall School for Girls (founded in 1902) and the all-male Park School (founded in 1914) formed the present-day school in 1970. History Park Tudor is the product of a merger of two single-sex independent schools, Tudor Hall School for Girls and Park School. Tudor Hall School for Girls was established in 1902 by Fredonia Allen and James Cumming Smith. Allen named the school after her mother, Ann Tudor Allen. The school was originally located at 16th and Meridian streets in Indianapolis. It later moved to a two-building campus at 32nd and Meridian streets where it remained for several decades.
