Thursday is an American post-hardcore band formed in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1997. The band consists of Geoff Rickly (lead vocals), Tom Keeley (lead guitar, backing vocals), Steve Pedulla (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Tim Payne (bass), and Tucker Rule (drums). The band's debut album ''Waiting'' (1999) featured original guitarist Bill Henderson, who left in 2000 and was replaced by Pedulla. Thursday gained popularity with their second album ''Full Collapse'' (2001), and the band's major-label debut '' War All the Time'' (2003) debuted at number 7 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. The band released '' A City by the Light Divided'' (2006), ''Common Existence'' (2009) and '' No Devolución'' (2011) before announcing an indefinite hiatus following Australian tour dates in 2012, which Rickly later confirmed was a full disbandment. ''A City by the Light Divided'' is the fourth studio album by Thursday, released by Island Records on May 2, 2006. Background Thursday's third album and major label debut '' War All the Time'' was released on September 15, 2003. Following its release, keyboardist Andrew Everding, who had performed on the album, became a full-time member of the band. The group subsequently embarked on an exhaustive touring schedule with performances in the UK, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. As a result of this touring, personal problems between members began to occur, but by July they were aiming to record in the next few months. The band wanted the record to have "a very live sound," and selected producer Dave Fridmann because of his work with such bands as the Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, and Mogwai. A whoopee cushion (also spelled whoopey cushion or whoopie cushion) is a practical joke device, which emulates the sound of flatulence. History and modern usage Records of a whoopee cushion date back to the 10th-century Aghlabid emir of Ifriqiya, Ziyadat Allah III. He is said to have enjoyed hiding inflated animal bladders under the cushions of his palace for unsuspecting guests to sit on. The modern rubber whoopee cushion was invented in the 1930s by the JEM Rubber Co. of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, by employees who were experimenting with scrap sheets of rubber. Warped Tour
The Warped Tour is a Concert tour, touring Rock music, rock music festival that toured the United States and Canada each summer from 1995 until 2019, and returned in 2025 for its 30th anniversary. By 2015, Warped was the largest traveling music festival in the United States and the longest-running touring music festival in North America. Internationally, the festival stopped in Australia from 1998–2002 and again in 2013, as well as the United Kingdom in 2012 and 2015. Poison the Well is an American metalcore band from Miami, Florida who were originally active between 1997 and 2010. Midtown is an American pop-punk band from New Brunswick, New Jersey. Midtown was formed in November 1998 by three Rutgers University students, but quickly became a quartet. The group released three full-length studio albums and three extended plays before disbanding in 2005. In early 2014, Midtown reunited to play three shows, the first as a secret show at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, and the two remaining at the Skate And Surf Festival. They reunited for more shows in 2022 as openers on My Chemical Romance's reunion tour. Screaming Vocals
Screaming is an extended vocal technique that is popular in "aggressive" music genres such as heavy metal, punk rock, and noise music. Screamed vocals are usually harsh, loud and aggressive, used to create an angry, emotional or intense tone. It is common in the more extreme subgenres of heavy metal, such as death and black metal, grindcore, as well as many other subgenres. Genres Classical and experimental music Although screams are often suggested in stories performed in the grand opera tradition, they were never performed as literal screams, but delivered in a singing tone. The first significant example of a literal scream being required in an opera is in Alban Berg's ''Wozzeck'' (1922), where the title character screams "Murder! Murder!" in the fourth scene of Act III.
