Tsuneari Yahiro (born 12 September 1987) is an Australian karateka. He was Australia, Australia's first Karate Olympian, competing in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Career He is a four time Oceania karate champion, winning over 3 categories of 60kg, 67kg and 75kg. At the 2010 World combat games held in Beijing, China, he won the bronze medal in the men’s kumite 60kg event. At the 2013 World Games held in Cali, Colombia, he won the bronze medal in the men's kumite 67 kg event. In 2017, he competed in the Karate at the 2017 World Games – Men's kumite 67 kg, men's 67 kg event at the 2017 World Games held in Wrocław, Poland. He drew one match and lost two matches in the elimination round and he did not advance to compete in the semi-finals. 2021 Karate World Olympic Qualification Tournament
The Olympics Karate 2020 Qualification Tournament was held from 11 to 13 June, 2021. The event took place in AccorHotels Arena sports hall, located in Paris, France. The tournament consisted of four categories for both men and women, as determined for Tokyo 2020. Each NOC had the opportunity to register one athlete for each of the eight categories, with exception to any category where they already have an athlete qualified for Tokyo 2020 through the Olympic Standing of May 2021. The four categories for both men and women included Kata, as well as three other classes created from the combining of the remaining five ( WKF) weight categories. Host country athletes ( Japan) only were able to register and compete in those categories in which no Japanese athlete is among the 50 highest ranked in the WKF Ranking as of May 2021. Karate At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Qualification
This article details the qualifying phase for karate at the 2020 Summer Olympics . 80 quota places for the Games are entitled to the karatekas coming from their respective NOCs, based on the results at designated tournaments supervised by World Karate Federation. Each NOC could enter a maximum of eight karatekas (one in each division). Host nation Japan at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Japan has reserved a spot in each of all 8 events, while four are made available to NOCs through a Tripartite Commission Invitation.
