Trần Văn Bang
Trần Văn Bang (born 1 March 1961), also known as Trần Bang, is a Vietnamese pro-democracy activist, blogger, and former soldier. After being arrested in March 2022 for promoting "anti-state propaganda" he was sentenced to eight years in prison by the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City in May 2023. Personal life During the late 1970s Bang enlisted in the People's Army of Vietnam, serving during the Sino-Vietnamese War in 1979. After retiring in the mid-1980s, he trained as an irrigation engineer. He became a member of the Lê Hiếu Đằng Club, an intellectual group who often speaks out publicly on national issues. Nguyễn Văn Hoá
Nguyễn Văn Hoá (1995) is a Vietnamese citizen from Ha Tinh Province. He was arrested and charged for “abusing democratic freedoms” under Article 258 of the Vietnamese Penal Code. His charges were later changed to "conducting propaganda against the state" under Article 88 of the Vietnamese Penal Code before being sentenced to seven years prison. Activism Hoá has been active in assisting families affected by the 2016 Vietnam Marine Life Disaster, caused by the Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Plant in April 2016. He helped assist affected fishermen seek compensation and environmental justice. A contributor with Radio Free Asia, Hoá submitted videos of protests in response to the disaster. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (, Đoàn TNCS), simply recognized as the Union (), is the largest socio-political organisation of Vietnamese youth. The union is under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The organization was founded on March 26, 1931, and was led and trained by Ho Chi Minh.
