John Mayer Trio
The John Mayer Trio is a blues rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2005. Comprising singer-songwriter and guitarist John Mayer, bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan, the band has released one live album, '' Try!'' in 2005. Three of the songs on the album were co-written by Jordan, Mayer, and Palladino, and the album was co-produced by Mayer and Jordan. History Formation and ''Try!'' (2005) In 2005, Mayer and Jordan had committed to a telethon on NBC, with bassist Willie Weeks entitled Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope to raise funds and public awareness benefiting victims in the aftermath of the tsunami that struck southeast Asia. However, as the date arrived, Weeks was unable to make the gig, and Jordan suggested high-profile bassist Pino Palladino instead. When the three joined to play, they noted a chemistry between them, and formed the Trio to play what Mayer called, "power-rockin', electric-guitar, in-your-face blues." In October 2005 the band tour ...

Who Did You Think I Was
"Who Did You Think I Was" is the debut single by blues-rock group John Mayer Trio from their first album, ''Try!''. As it is from a live album, the single itself is a live recording. Speculation that Mayer was moving away from his known field of sensitive acoustic pop rock into blues was confirmed by the release of this single, being that it's a moderately heavy blues-rock song. Furthermore, the line from the first verse, "Got a brand new blues that I can't explain", indicates Mayer exploring blues unlike before. The song also appeared as the B-side on the Trio's subsequent EP, "Live @ Yahoo! Music", after the track, "Out of My Mind", a heavily blues-influenced song written by Mayer which also appears on ''Try!''. The B-side to "Who Did You Think I Was" is "Come When I Call", which did not appear on the album ''Try!'', but was frequently played throughout the trio live performances, like the song, "I Don't Need No Doctor "I Don't Need No Doctor" is an R&B song written by ...

I Got A Woman
"I Got a Woman" (originally titled "I've Got a Woman") is a song co-written and recorded by American R&B and soul musician Ray Charles. Atlantic Records released the song as a single in December 1954, with " Come Back Baby" as the B-side. Both songs later appeared on the 1957 album ''Ray Charles'' (subsequently reissued as ''Hallelujah I Love Her So''). Origin The song builds on "It Must Be Jesus" by the Southern Tones, which Ray Charles was listening to on the radio while on the road with his band in the summer of 1954, as well as a bridge inspired by Big Bill Broonzy's "Living on Easy Street". He and a member of his band, trumpeter Renald Richard, wrote a song that was built along a gospel-frenetic pace with secular lyrics and a jazz-inspired rhythm and blues (R&B) background. The song would be one of the prototypes for what later became termed as "soul music" after Charles released "What'd I Say" nearly five years later. Charles version The song was recorded on November 18, ...
