Truett-McConnell College
Truett McConnell University is a private Baptist college in Cleveland, Georgia. It is operated under the auspices of the Georgia Baptist Convention and controlled by a board of trustees elected by the convention. It was named to honor George W. Truett and Fernando C. McConnell. History On July 23, 1946, the Georgia Baptist Convention held ceremonies at Cleveland, Georgia, to mark the establishment of a new two-year liberal arts college named for Truett and McConnell. Truett-McConnell College, operating in temporary quarters on or near the town square in Cleveland, first opened in September 1947, when it enrolled a class of 55 students. The school was first accredited in 1966 to issue two year degrees. In December 2002, the institution was approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to offer four-year degrees. Matt Papa
Matt Papa is an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, hymn writer, author, and worship leader. In 2009, his album ''Your Kingdom Come'' charted #46 on the ''Billboard'' Top Christian Albums and #33 on the Top Heatseekers chart. He released "Church Songs", an EP, in October 2016. He has worked extensively with Keith & Kristyn Getty as well as Matt Boswell, a singer and songwriter, on several songs. Early life Since he was a child, Papa has always been interested in music. When he was in his teen years, his youth pastor entered his life, which led the way to him becoming a Christian. Career Papa began as a worship leader at Summit Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Andrew Wiggins
Andrew Christian Wiggins (born February 23, 1995) is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers after one year of college basketball with the Kansas Jayhawks. Mitchell Lee Wiggins (September 28, 1959 – September 9, 2024) was an American professional basketball player who was a shooting guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Xavier Roberts (born October 31, 1955, in Cleveland, Georgia) is best known for Cabbage Patch Kid dolls, once immensely popular soft sculpted dolls. Early life When Xavier Roberts was five, his father died in a car accident, leaving his mother to raise him and his five siblings. Roberts then attended White County High School and then attended Truett McConnell Junior College where he was an award-winning art student. Cabbage Patch Kids development In 1976, Xavier Roberts met Martha Nelson Thomas at a craft fair. He asked her to supply him with dolls to sell in Georgia, where he lived and worked. Thomas briefly let him sell her Doll Babies, but stopped. Thomas sued Roberts and won an undisclosed amount after the case was settled out of court.
