True Frogs
True frogs is the common name for the frog family Ranidae. They have the widest distribution of any frog family. They are abundant throughout most of the world, occurring on all continents except Antarctica. The true frogs are present in North America, northern South America, Europe, Africa (including Madagascar), and Asia. The Asian range extends across the East Indies to New Guinea and a single species, the Australian wood frog (''Hylarana daemelii''), has spread into the far north of Australia. Typically, true frogs are smooth and moist-skinned, with large, powerful legs and extensively webbed feet. Cyprus Water Frog
''Pelophylax cypriensis'' or the Cyprus water frog is a species of frog in the family Ranidae. It is Endemism, endemic to the island of Cyprus. It is widespread in Cyprus, with the highest density in the Troodos Mountains, Troodos area, the most humid part of the island. It can live in both stagnant and brackish water, including small pools, streams, and ditches. Taxonomy The species was previously thought to be a population of ''Pelophylax cypriensis'', but was split off as a distinct species in 2012. However, this taxonomic arrangement is not accepted by all authorities. Description It is a medium-sized frog, being in length. Females (body length up to ) are generally larger than males (up to ). Ranixalidae is a family of frogs commonly known as the leaping frogs or Indian frogs. They are endemic to central and southern India, specifically in the Western Ghat mountain range. This mountain range encompasses the Indian states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Ranixalidae can be found in Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala.
