True Confessions (album)
''True Confessions'' is the third studio album by English group Bananarama. It was released on 14 July 1986 by London Records. The majority of the album was produced by Tony Swain and Steve Jolley (who produced Bananarama's eponymous second album), with the exception of "Venus" and " More Than Physical". The latter, given a garage remix for its single version, was Bananarama's first songwriting collaboration with the Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW) production team. The album contains the group's most commercially successful single to date, a cover version of Shocking Blue's 1969 song "Venus", which peaked at number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the United States. ''True Confessions'' reached number 46 on the UK Albums Chart and number 15 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, becoming the group's highest-charting album on the latter chart. ''True Confessions'' is a confession magazine targeted at young women readers. It was originally published by Fawcett Publications, beginning in 1922. History Building on the success of ''Captain Billy's Whiz Bang'' magazine, Fawcett Publications published the first issue of ''True Confessions'' in August 1922. With a cover price of 25 cents, the front cover of the October, 1922, issue heralded, "Our Thousand Dollar Prize Winner—'All Hell Broke Loose'." During the 1920s, Jack Smalley was the editor, and early issues in the run sometimes featured cover illustrations by Norman Saunders. ''True Confessions'' is a noir novel by John Gregory Dunne and published in 1977. The novel was inspired by an actual event, the 1947 Black Dahlia murder. Plot Los Angeles, 1946: Lois Fazenda is found cut in two pieces in a vacant lot after the murderer has taunted on the corpse. Due to the nickname "The Virgin Tramp", given to her just to please a journalist, a "nice quiet little homicide that would have drifted off the front pages in a couple of days" becomes the center of a storm. ''The Undertones'' is the 1979 debut album by the Undertones. The album was recorded at Eden Studios in Acton, West London in January 1979 and was released on 13 May that year. The original release included just one single release: " Jimmy Jimmy" and an album version of "Here Comes the Summer", which was never released as a single. A re-released version of the album (housed in an alternate sleeve), was issued in October 1979. The re-released album also included The Undertones' first two singles: "Teenage Kicks" and "Get Over You" alongside both "Jimmy Jimmy" and a single version of "Here Comes the Summer", which had been released in July.
