Troy Taylor (American Football)
Troy Scott Taylor (born April 5, 1968) is an American college football coach and former player. He was the head football coach at Stanford from 2023 until March 2025. Taylor played professionally as a quarterback for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). Taylor played college football at California and was selected by the Jets in the fourth round of the 1990 NFL draft. After his playing career, Taylor served as co-head football coach at Folsom High School in Folsom, California, from 2012 to 2015; co-offensive coordinator at Eastern Washington in 2016; offensive coordinator at the Utah from 2017 to 2018; and as head coach at Sacramento State from 2019 to 2022. Playing career Taylor attended Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, California. Troy Taylor (b. 12 September 1991) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Richmond in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Central Australian Football League (CAFL) club South Alice Springs, Taylor was a talented junior footballer who had piqued the interest of Gold Coast Suns Football Club, who sought to name Taylor in their training squad in the lead up to their debut in the 2011 AFL season. Taylor declines and instead nominated for the 2009 AFL Draft, where Richmond drafted him with their fourth round pick (number 51 overall). Taylor made his senior AFL debut against Melbourne in round 4 of the 2010 season but continually suffered homesickness, twice walking out on Richmond and their Victorian Football League (VFL) affiliate Coburg Football Club. Troy Christopher Taylor is an American record producer, singer, and songwriter known for his discovery and mentorship of R&B singer Trey Songz. He was formerly a member of production collective The Characters, and founded the record label Songbook Entertainment in 2002, through which he signed Songz the following year. Throughout his career, Taylor has produced and worked extensively with the singer, as well as other prominent R&B acts including the Isley Brothers, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Whitney Houston, and Boyz II Men. Career Musical upbringing Taylor was born in suburban New Haven, Connecticut into a family of musicians, resulting in exposure to music at a very early age.
