Troost Avenue
Troost Avenue is one of the major streets in Kansas City, Missouri and the Kansas City metropolitan area. Its northern terminus is at 4th Street and its southern terminus Bannister Road, totaling . It is named after Kansas City's first resident physician, Benoist Troost. History Troost Avenue was continuously developed from 1834 into the 1990s. From the 1880s to 1920s, many prominent white Kansas Citians (including ophthalmologist Flavel Tiffany, Governor Thomas Crittenden, banker William T. Kemper, and MEC, S pastor James Porter) resided in mansions along what had been a farm-to-market road. The section from 26th to 32nd was nicknamed "Millionaire Row". William Paul Troost-Ekong (born 1 September 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Saudi Pro League club Al-Kholood. Born in the Netherlands, he captains the Nigeria national team. Born into a mixed Dutch and Nigerian family, Troost-Ekong was eligible for both the Netherlands and Nigeria at international level. Benoist Troost (born Benedictus Troost; also Benoît Troost, Benoit Troost; November 17, 1786 – February 8, 1859) was an Americanized Dutch geologist, physician, and American pioneer. He was one of the 14 founders of the American frontier town of Kansas, Missouri which became Kansas City, Missouri, with its namesake street Troost Avenue. Early and personal life Benoist Troost was born to Catholics Everardus Josephus Troost and Anna Cornelia van Heeck on November 17, 1786, in 's-Hertogenbosch. A favourite master builder of Adolf Hitler from 1930, his Neoclassical designs for the '' Führerbau'', the ''Verwaltungsbau der NSDAP'' and the '' Haus der Kunst'' in Munich influenced the style of Nazi architecture. Gerhardine "Gerdy" Troost (née Andresen; 3 March 1904 – 30 January 2003), was a German architect, interior designer, interior decorator, and the wife of Paul Ludwig Troost. Life and work Troost was born in Stuttgart, the daughter of the architect Johannes Andresen. After completing her education, she worked in her father's business, where she met Paul Ludwig Troost in 1923. In 1924, the pair moved to Munich and were married there in 1925. Jacob "Sjaak" Troost (born 28 August 1959) is a Dutch retired footballer who played as a defender. Club career Born in Pernis, South Holland, Troost played his entire career with local Feyenoord, making his Eredivisie debut on 9 April 1978 in a 0–1 away loss against FC Volendam and becoming an undisputed starter from the 1981–82 season onwards.
