Troféu Bigorna
Bigorna (anvil in Portuguese) was a Brazilian website about comics with an almost exclusive focus on Brazilian comics. History It was created in 2005 by editor Eloyr Pacheco, who after a few years left the site, transferring the position of editor-in-chief to cartoonist Marcio Baraldi, who kept the site in operation until 29 May 2011, having published a text by farewell in which he informed that the site would remain online, even without updates, due to the six years of content focused on Brazilian comics. Awards In 2006, the Bigorna website won the Jayme Cortez Trophy, an award intended to reward great contributions to Brazilian comics. In 2009 and 2010, it won the Prêmio DB Artes for Best Fanzine Site. Glauco Villas Boas (March 10, 1957 – March 12, 2010) was a Brazilian illustrator, cartoonist and religious leader. He belonged to the Villas-Bôas brothers family. Early life and career In 1976, Glauco moved to Ribeirão Preto and, after being discovered by journalist José Hamilton Ribeiro, published his first works on newspaper ''Diário da Manhã''. One year later, he was awarded the International Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba by a jury made up of Jaguar, Millor Fernandes, Henfil and Angeli, and the 2nd Biennial of Graphic Humor and Cuba. In 1984, invited by Angeli, he began publishing at the ''Ilustrada'' section of newspaper Folha de S. Getulio Delphim (born Rio de Janeiro, June 16, 1938) - sometimes Delphin or Delfin - is a Brazilian comics artist and illustrator. He began his career at the age of 15 at Rio Gráfica publishing house as a comics penciller and magazine cover designer. At 18, he was working for the publishing houses Outubro and La Selva. One of his main works was in the superhero's comic book Capitão 7. In 1970s, he stopped working only with comics, dedicating himself to advertising illustration. Julio Yoshinobu Shimamoto (born Borborema, May 13th, 1939), better known as Julio Shimamoto or Shima, is a Brazilian comic artist of Japanese descent. He started his career in the 1950s in the superhero comic book ''Capitão 7''. He has worked in almost all comic book publishers in Brazil in 1960s and 1970s, such as La Selva, Taika, Outubro, Ebal, Vecchi, Grafipar, Abril, among many others. His main works are ''Musashi I'' and ''Musashi II'' (2003), about the samurai Miyamoto Musashi, and ''Subs'' (2006). One of the main themes of his comics is the samurai (in fact, Shimamoto claims to be descended from samurai), having made the first story on the subject in Brazil: ''Os Fantasmas do Rincão Maldito'', published in 1961. Otacílio Costa d’Assunção Barros (July 4, 1954 – September 24, 2021), better known as Ota, was a Brazilian journalist, cartoonist, comics artist and editor. Biography He was born in Rio de Janeiro, and started his career in 1970 at Editora Brasil-América Limitada (EBAL), then the largest Brazilian comic book publishing house. He also published independent comics in the 1970s, such as the comic strip ''Os Birutas''. In 1974, working at Vecchi publishing house, he became editor of the Brazilian edition of ''Mad'' magazine, a position he continued to hold in other publishing houses that published ''Mad'': Record (1984–2000), Mythos (2000–2006) and Panini (2008). Senninha
Senninha is a Brazilian comic book series created by Rogério Martins and Ridaut Dias Jr., whose main character is based upon Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna. Senninha was launched on 28 January 1994 by the publisher Abril, some months before the accident that caused Senna's death. After Senna's death, the comics became very popular and remained this way until 1999, when Brainstore began to publish the comics. However, the series was cancelled in 2000 after only a few new issues. In 2008 the comic was restarted by the publisher HQM, but due to poor sales and poor marketing it was cancelled again. Álvaro de Moya (São Paulo, July 19, 1930 – São Paulo, August 14, 2017) was a Brazilian journalist, professor, researcher, comics artist, illustrator, writer and TV producer. He was one of the pioneers in academic research on comics in Brazil and one of those responsible for the First International Exhibition of Comics, held in São Paulo in 1951 (the first exhibition of comics in Brazil and one of the first in the world). Moya worked on the Disney comics published by Editora Abril, published novel adaptations at the EBAL publishing house, and made cartoons, illustrations and articles about comics for several newspapers. Comix Book Shop is a Brazilian comic book store founded October 31, 1986, by Carlos Mann. History Carlos Mann worked for a few years at newsstands, until he decided to buy his own in 1986, at Alameda Lorena, in the Jardins neighborhood, in São Paulo. Looking for a differentiator, Carlos started working with an importer that offered a kind of "subscription" to imported comic books, guaranteeing the regularity of their distribution (at the time, it was practically impossible to get imported comics in Brazil). In a short time, there were 200 permanent customers who regularly purchased a large amount of magazines. With the success, the store, already called Comix, started to sell collectible card game, which made the space full on Saturdays.
