Triplemanía IX was the ninth Triplemanía professional wrestling show promoted by AAA. The show took place on May 26, 2001 in Mexico City, Mexico. The Main event featured a Dog collar match ''Lucha de Apuestas'' match where the last man remaining in the match would have his hair shaved off. The participants were Pirata Morgan, El Cobarde and Sangre Chicana. Production Background In early 1992 Antonio Peña was working as a booker and storyline writer for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), Mexico's largest and the world's oldest wrestling promotion, and was frustrated by CMLL's very conservative approach to ''lucha libre''. He joined forces with a number of younger, very talented wrestlers who felt like CMLL was not giving them the recognition they deserved and decided to split from CMLL to create Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, later known simply as "AAA" or Triple A. El Alebrije (wrestler)
El Alebrije (born July 12, 1972) is a Mexican '' Luchador'' '' enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler, currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the ring name Kraneo. He best known for his work in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, where he worked for 12 years as El Alebrije, along with his '' Mini-Estrella'' companion Cuije. He has also played the role of Máscara Sagrada II after the Original Máscara Sagrada left AAA. Antonio Peña Promotions, S.A. de C.V. d/b/a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide is a Mexican Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) promotion based in Mexico City, Mexico. Commonly referred to as simply AAA (pronounced "triple A"; an abbreviation of its original name Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, Spanish for "Assistance, Assessment, and Administration"), the promotion was founded in 1992 when Antonio Peña broke away from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) to set up a promotion, which allowed him more creative freedom. Mario Pérez Jiménez (December 18, 1966 – January 23, 2016) was a Mexican Mini-Estrella luchador, or Mini professional wrestler, best known under the ring name Espectrito. Jiménez worked for the World Wrestling Federation as "Mini Vader" and "El Torito" between 1997 and 1999. Jiménez was the first ever Mexican National Mini-Estrella Champion and IWC World Mini-Estrella Champion. Jiménez was originally an enmascarado, or masked wrestler, under the Espectrito name but lost it to Mascarita Sagrada in a ''Luchas de Apuestas'' match, a bet match where each wrestler puts his mask on the line. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in ''lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters.
