Triplemanía IX was the ninth Triplemanía professional wrestling show promoted by Lucha Libre AAA World Wide, AAA. The show took place on May 26, 2001 in Mexico City, Mexico. The Main event featured a Professional wrestling match types#Strap match, Dog collar match ''Lucha de Apuestas'' match where the last man remaining in the match would have his hair shaved off. The participants were Pirata Morgan, El Cobarde and Sangre Chicana. Production Background In early 1992 Antonio Peña was working as a booker and storyline writer for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), Mexico's largest and the world's oldest wrestling promotion, and was frustrated by CMLL's very conservative approach to ''lucha libre''. El Alebrije (born July 12, 1972) is a Mexican ''Lucha libre, Luchador'' ''wrestling mask, enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestling, professional wrestler, currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the ring name Kraneo. He best known for his work in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, where he worked for 12 years as El Alebrije, along with his ''Mini-Estrella'' companion Cuije. Mario Pérez Jiménez (December 18, 1966 – January 23, 2016) was a Mexican Mini-Estrella Lucha Libre, luchador, or Mini Professional wrestling, professional wrestler, best known under the ring name Espectrito. Jiménez worked for the World Wrestling Entertainment, World Wrestling Federation as "Mini Vader" and "El Torito" between 1997 and 1999.
