Trip Report
A trip report, also known as a psychedelic experience report, is a written account of a subjective psychedelic experience by a person who has taken a psychedelic drug, psychedelic or other hallucinogenic drug. They are often published on online websites like Erowid, Bluelight (web forum), Bluelight, Lycaeum, Drugs Forum, and Reddit, among others, with Erowid's Experience Vaults containing thousands of trip reports. Among the most famous trip reports are those of chemist Albert Hofmann when he discovered LSD, including Bicycle Day (psychedelic holiday), Bicycle Day (April 19, 1943) and his initial accidental lower-dose exposure a few days earlier on April 16, 1943. Writer Aldous Huxley's ''The Doors of Perception'' (1954) is a book-length trip report about his first experience with mescaline provided by psychiatrist Humphrey Osmond. Psychedelic Experience
A psychedelic experience (known colloquially as a trip) is a temporary altered state of consciousness induced by the consumption of a psychedelic substance (most commonly Lysergic acid diethylamide, LSD, mescaline, psilocybin mushrooms, or N,N-Dimethyltryptamine, DMT). For example, an acid trip is a psychedelic experience brought on by the use of LSD, while a mushroom trip is a psychedelic experience brought on by the use of psilocybin. Psychedelic experiences feature alterations in normal perception such as visual distortions and a subjective ego dissolution, loss of self-identity, sometimes interpreted as mystical experiences. Ann Shulgin
Laura Ann Shulgin ( Gotlieb; March 22, 1931 – July 9, 2022) was an American author and the wife of chemist Alexander Shulgin, with whom she wrote ''PiHKAL'' and '' TiHKAL''. Life and career Laura Ann Gotlieb Detailed biography of Ann Shulgin was born in Wellington, New Zealand, to parents Bernard Gotlieb and Gwen Ormiston, but grew up in the village Opicina outside the Italian city Trieste. Her father was U.S. Consul in Trieste for six years before World War II. Later in her childhood she lived in the U.S., Cuba, and Canada. She studied art and became an artist, married an artist and had a child, and they later divorced. She had two more marriages ending in divorce and had three more children. Ann went back to work as a medical transcriber, and met Alexander ("Sasha") Shulgin in 1978; they were married on 4 July 1981 in their back yard. 5-MeO-MiPT
5-MeO-MiPT is a psychedelic and hallucinogen of the tryptamine family. It used by some as an entheogen. It has structural and pharmacodynamic properties similar to the drugs 5-MeO-DiPT, DiPT, and MiPT. It is commonly used as a "substitute" for 5-MeO-DiPT because of the very similar structure and effects. The drug acts as a non-selective serotonin receptor agonist, including of the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor. 5-MeO-MiPT was first described in the scientific literature by Alexander Shulgin and colleagues in 1985.
