Tri-County League (Wisconsin)
The Tri-County League is a former high school athletic conference in Wisconsin, operational from 1923 to 1963 with its membership concentrated in south central Wisconsin. All members belonged to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. History The Tri-County League began in 1923 as an Public speaking, oratorical and forensics conference between five small high schools in south central Wisconsin: Arena High School (Wisconsin), Arena, Black Earth High School, Black Earth, Mazomanie High School, Mazomanie, Prairie du Sac High School, Prairie du Sac and Sauk City High School, Sauk City. These five schools were concentrated in the lower Wisconsin River, Wisconsin River Valley across three counties: Dane County, Wisconsin, Dane, Iowa County, Wisconsin, Iowa and Sauk County, Wisconsin, Sauk. The loop began sponsorship of athletic competition in 1926, and in 1928 added two new members: Spring Green High School, Spring Green and Waunakee Community High School, Waunakee. The ... Athletic Conference
An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams which play competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller Division (sport), divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 AFL Women's season, 2019 and 2020 AFL Women's season, 2020. The league was divided into two conferences, based on ladder position in the previous season. Not every team could play each other due to the limited number of rounds, so conferences were introduced so that teams were only measured against the teams they played. The system was controversial because it allowed some weak teams to make finals, and strong teams from the other conference missed out on finals.
