Trevor Thomas is a British actor. He acted mostly around the late 1970s mostly in television programmes, but also starred in the 1977 film '' Black Joy'', alongside Norman Beaton, as well as in stage productions. ''Black Joy'' is a 1977 British film directed by Anthony Simmons (writer), Anthony Simmons. The story of an immigrant country boy in Brixton, London. It was entered into the 1977 Cannes Film Festival. The film is a lightly ironic, British culture-clash comedy. ''Rockliffe'' is a British television police procedural drama series, produced by the BBC, which ran for three series between 9 January 1987 and 14 December 1988. ''Rockliffe'' was devised by Richard O'Keeffe, and produced by Leonard Lewis. Norman Lugard Beaton (31 October 1934 – 13 December 1994) was a Guyana, Guyanese actor long resident in the United Kingdom. He became best known for his role as Desmond Ambrose in the Channel Four television comedy series ''Desmond's''. The writer Stephen Bourne (writer), Stephen Bourne has called him "the most influential and highly regarded black British actor of his time". Early life Beaton was born in Georgetown, Guyana, Georgetown, British Guiana (now Guyana). He attended Queen's College, Guyana, Queen's College, and went on to a teacher training college, where he received high marks, and served as the deputy headmaster at Cane Grove Anglican School in Demerara.
