Trevor Grimwood
Trevor Foster Grimwood (born 8 November 1948) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Port Adelaide and West Adelaide in the SANFL. Grimwood's first attempt at a career in the SANFL was unsuccessful, he was on the books for Norwood in both 1965 and 1966 but didn't play a senior game. A rover, he got his second chance in 1971 when he was picked up by Port Adelaide with whom he would play 33 games over three years. In 1974 he crossed to West Adelaide and won their best and fairest award in 1976. His best season came the following season when he won the 1977 Magarey Medal by ten votes. Grimwood finished with 101 games for West Adelaide; he would have played more if he had not suffered from constant hamstring problems. Commonly known as The Bloods and Westies, the club's home base is Richmond Oval (currently known as Hisense Stadium under a sponsorship agreement). Australian Rules Football
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Norwood Football Club
Norwood Football Club, nicknamed the Redlegs, is an Australian rules football club competing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) in the state of South Australia. Its home ground is Coopers Stadium (Norwood Oval), which is often referred to as "The Parade". Magarey Medal
The Magarey Medal is an Australian rules football honour awarded annually since 1898 to the fairest and most brilliant player in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), as judged by field umpires. The award was created by William Ashley Magarey, then chairman of the league. The current recipient is Aaron Young. History William Magarey was born in Adelaide, South Australia. A lawyer by vocation, he had an enduring interest in sports, although he did not play football. He was, however, an active sports administrator who, in 1897, became the inaugural Chairman of the South Australian Football Association (later renamed the SANFL). The sport at that time was known for often rough play, and Magarey wanted to help combat this, and help gain more respect for umpires.
