Trent Tucker
Kelvin Trent Tucker (born December 20, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player who played eleven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A shooting guard, Tucker attended the University of Minnesota from 1978 to 1982, leading them to a Big Ten Conference championship in 1981–82 Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team, his senior year. He was then selected by the New York Knicks with the 6th overall pick of the 1982 NBA draft. On 30 November 1982, in his NBA debut, Tucker outscored the opposing Utah Jazz 17–11 in the third quarter. One of the earliest three-point specialists, Tucker represented the Knicks in the first ever Three-point Shootout (1986), making it to the semifinals before being outpaced by Craig Hodges and eventual winner Larry Bird. Tarboro, North Carolina
Tarboro is a town located in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the Rocky Mount metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the town had a population of 10,721. It is the county seat of Edgecombe County. 1986–87 New York Knicks Season
The 1986–87 NBA season was the Knicks' 41st season in the NBA and the last time they would miss the playoffs until their 2001–02 season. With second-year center Patrick Ewing still struggling with injuries and after starting the season 4–12, head coach Hubie Brown was fired and Bob Hill took over for the rest of the season. Brown returned to coach the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2002–03 season. Bernard King, only able to play six games this year, was released at the end of the season, signing as a free agent with the Washington Bullets. 1985–86 New York Knicks Season
The 1985–86 New York Knicks season was the 40th season of NBA basketball in New York City, New York. The Knicks had won the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA draft in the league's first ever draft lottery, which they used to select Patrick Ewing out of Georgetown, who was regarded as the most sought-after prospect since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1969 by ''The New York Times''. He was signed to a six-year $17 million deal, the richest ever for an NBA rookie. Despite Ewing struggling with injuries, he was named Rookie of the Year and was selected to play in the All-Star Game, however, he declined to play due to an injury. The 1984–85 NBA season was the Knicks' 39th season in the NBA. Bernard King injured his knee on March 25 and was put on injured reserve, ending his season. He was forced to sit out the next year. 1983–84 New York Knicks Season
The 1983–84 New York Knicks season was the 38th season for the team in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the regular season, the Knicks had a 47–35 record, and qualified for the NBA playoffs as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. New York was led by small forward Bernard King, who averaged 26.3 points per game (PPG) in the regular season and 34.8 PPG in the playoffs. In early 1984, King scored 50 points in consecutive games, against the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks. In the opening round of the 1984 NBA Playoffs, the Knicks faced the Detroit Pistons. The 1982–83 New York Knicks season was the 37th season for the team in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the regular season, the Knicks started off by losing their first seven games of the season, but improved during the second half of their schedule. They finished in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with a 44–38 win–loss record, and qualified for the NBA playoffs. New York defeated the New Jersey Nets 2–0 in the best-of-three first round of the playoffs and advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, where they were swept in four games by the eventual NBA champion Philadelphia 76ers. Eden Prairie is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. It had a population of 64,198 at the 2020 census, making it the 16th-largest city in Minnesota. Three-point Shootout
The Three-Point Contest is a National Basketball Association (NBA) contest held on the Saturday before the annual All-Star Game as part of All-Star weekend. The 2019 iteration of the contest involved ten participants. From its introduction in 1986 to 2018, eight participants were selected to participate in each season's shootout. In 2002–2003 to 2012-2013 there were six participants. Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat is the most recent winner of the event, which was held at Chase Center in San Francisco.
