Trengellick Rising
''Trengellick Rising'' is a 2023 Cornish language short film written and directed by Guy Potter. The film was successfully funded via Kickstarter and has received support from Cornwall Council, Falmouth University and the Sound/Image Cinema Lab. Synopsis Set in 1735, the film follows Private Gerren Pascoe, who is exiled without trial to a distant coastal outpost to scout enemy vessels. Guy Potter
Guy Potter (born 25 April 1992) is a British actor, director and producer. He has featured in film, television and stage alongside working under his company High Sierra Films. Early life Potter was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in 1992. Potter attended Blundell's School in Devon, where he began performing in school productions and his class' self-scripted play ''The Importance of Being a Man'', which was invited to go to the National Student Drama Festival (2010). Inspired by a school visit from Nina Gold for an audition for Steven Spielberg's ''War Horse'', he decided to take acting seriously as a profession. Bodmin
Bodmin () is a town and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated south-west of Bodmin Moor. The extent of the civil parish corresponds fairly closely to that of the town so is mostly urban in character. It is bordered to the east by Cardinham parish, to the southeast by Lanhydrock parish, to the southwest and west by Lanivet parish, and to the north by Helland parish. Jamaica Inn
The Jamaica Inn is a traditional inn on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, England, which was built as a coaching inn in 1750, and has a historical association with smuggling. Located just off the A30, near the middle of the moor close to the hamlet of Bolventor, it was originally used as a staging post for changing horses. The "Tuber" or "Two Barrows" hill, is close by. The inn was the setting for Daphne du Maurier's 1936 novel '' Jamaica Inn'', about the nocturnal activities of a smuggling ring, "portraying a hidden world as a place of tense excitement and claustrophobia of real peril and thrill." In the novel, it was transformed into a rendezvous and warehouse for smuggling that was solely the home of the landlord and his wife. The novel has been adapted into various media, most famously an eponymous 1939 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. However, the inn itself has never actually been used as a filming location.
