Trend Records (UK Label)
Trend Records was an English Record label which existed from the late 1960s until the early 1970s. It issued recordings by such notable artists and personalities as Consortium (band), Consortium, The Foundations, Audrey Hall, Marcus Lipton, Julie Stevens (English actress), Julie Stevens, Warm Dust and Colin Young. Background In February 1968, the label was launched. They had entered into a deal with Associated Records. Promotion was handled by Richard Eddy of Trend and Andrew Vere of Saga Records. All of the acts that had been signed to Barry Class, Barry Class' company Barry Class Management would have their recordings issued on the label. One act, The Foundations that Class managed would not have their recordings issued on Trend. Prior to the February launch, Class was speculating on issuing budget records. Barry Class
Barry Class is an entrepreneur, former music store chain owner, band manager, record label founder, musical director, producer and recording studio owner. His greatest success as a manager was with the soul group The Foundations. He also managed the group The World of Oz, Swegas and others. Background Barry Class has been credited with the discovery of The Foundations. However, there are sources that say it was Ron Fairway, manager of The Ways and Means who discovered them. Radio Caroline
Radio Caroline is a British radio station founded in 1964 by Ronan O'Rahilly and Allan Crawford, initially to circumvent the record companies' control of popular music broadcasting in the United Kingdom and the BBC's radio broadcasting monopoly. Unlicensed by any government for most of its early life, it was a Pirate radio in the United Kingdom, pirate radio station that never became illegal as such due to operating outside any national jurisdiction, although after the Marine, &c., Broadcasting (Offences) Act 1967 it became illegal for a British subject to associate with it. The Radio Caroline name was used to broadcast from international waters, using five different ships with three different owners, from 1964 to 1990, and via satellite from 1998 to 2013. Steve Bingham (bassist)
Steve Bingham (born 4 April 1949) is an English bass guitarist, best known for being in the band The Foundations in 1970, and remaining with them until their break-up. Background Steve Bingham's interest in the bass guitar was awakened at the age of twelve when his sister took him to see a local group called The Strollers. Bingham joined The Foundations in 1969, felling the position once occupied by Peter Macbeth. He played on the 1972 ''Ennismore'' album by Colin Blunstone, on the 1974 ''Anymore for Anymore'' album by Ronnie Lane, and the 1976 album ''Stars Fade (In Hotel Rooms)'' by Kevin Westlake. Steve also toured with Ronnie Lane and Slim Chance in "The Passing Show", which took a huge circus tent on the road with dancing girls, fire eaters, clowns and a general assortment of circus people. Jean Roussel
Jean Alain Roussel (born 1951) is a Mauritian-born Musician, Composer, Record Producer, Arranger, Educator and Sono-Therapist. Development (band)
Development was a progressive rock and pop band fronted by Colin Young, former lead singer of The Foundations. They were signed to Barry Class, Barry Class' Trend Records (UK label), Trend record label. The original Foundations had broken up in late 1970 and this new group would alternate between calling themselves Development and The Foundations. Background The Foundations broke up in late 1970. None of the Foundations, Eric Allandale, Pat Burke, Tony Gomez, Tim Harris (drummer), Tim Harris or Alan Warner (musician), Alan Warner came to be part of Development. The only other member from The Foundations besides Colin Young was Steve Bingham (bassist), Steve Bingham. Since late 1970, Barry Class attempted to have the Foundations name revived. David Hamilton (born David Pilditch; 10 September 1938) is an English radio and television presenter. Since his broadcasting career began in 1959, Hamilton has hosted over 12,000 radio shows and more than 1,000 television shows. He is often known as 'Diddy David Hamilton', a name given to him by the comedian Ken Dodd. Early life Hamilton was born in Manchester and attended Glastonbury Road Grammar School at St Helier in Surrey until the age of 17. The Dutch Top 40 () is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. Baby, I Couldn't See was a 1969 single for The Foundations. It enjoyed some popularity in the Netherlands there where it was a chart hit. It has been recorded by a number of other artists in the early 1970s which include, a number of South American acts, a Mexican band, and a New Zealand band.
